George Grebenstein, who has competently taken over the Class Notes responsibility of the '07 Secretary for April and May, was operated on in a Boston hospital in mid-April by a collegemate and friend, Dr. Halsey Loder '05. Greb was released from the hospital within a week after the operation and writes that he is feeling well though somewhat weak. Greb praises his doctor, not only for his surgical skill, but also because he "picked out a hospital from which I could see the Charles River, and Cambridge where I was born and raised; where I went to high school and played baseball, basketball, football and track. I could see the Harvard Stadium which our 1903 football team christened." Greb is already looking forward to the off-year '07 reunion in June.
Bob Kenyon, back from Florida to his New Hampshire farm, is also eager to hear plans for the '07 get-together in June. Plans should have been announced early in May.
Last May, Frank Rowell wrote from Sunapee, N.H., that he had been, ill and doubted his ability to attend '07's Fiftieth Reunion. Early in April, Frank's sister, Mrs. A. L. Gamsby, reported that he had died on August 28, 1957, in Sunapee. No information concerning the cause of his death has been received. Available facts about Frank's activities will be reported in the In Memoriam columns of this issue.
Those who receive a copy of Dartmouth Diddings, '09's Class Letter, the editor of which is Jack Childs, will appreciate sincerely his frequent and informed comments on '07 men. His March 26 issue, for example, has much to say about Harry Blythe, and he recommends to his readers a profile of Harry Blythe which was to appear (and did) in the April issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE in the '09 Class Notes column. Every member of '07 who remembers Harry Blythe should read this profile if you haven't already done so. And '07's sincere thanks for the profile and for the Blythe poem included is tendered to Jack Childs and his associates.
As these notes are written, your class officers, excepting only "Judge" McLane, are planning to attend the meetings of class officers in Hanover on May 2-3.
We are indebted to Tim Richards for the picture of '07's most recent bride and groom, Bill and Mrs. Sanborn, which accompanies this column. Bill Sanborn reports that the work at the Worcester State Hospital where he has been for several years, is almost completed. Bill is starting another job as Clerk of Works at Westboro (Mass.) State Hospital, and he expects to be on this job for another year and a half. He and Mrs. Sanborn plan to go to Hanover during the reunion period in June. Bill is a member of the Capital Fund team in Worcester and is confident that Worcester's quota will be met.
Orlando Davis experienced some coronary trouble back in February. He was hopeful that he would enjoy reasonable health again in a few weeks. Best' wishes from his Classmates!
Walter Nesmith enjoyed, we believe, his 81st birthday on April 25. He supposes that "this can happen to everyone if they wait around long enough."
