It's October first but I am wishing for each of you a happy Thanksgiving Day - with good health and good appetite - surrounded by your loved ones including all the great-grandchildren. "Blessed be the Tie That Binds."
Carl and Marion Woods have a very lovely summer home in Fairhaven, Mass., on Cape Cod not far from the equally lovely home of the Robinsons in South Dartmouth, Mass. Early in September the Woods had a house party attended by Robbie and Hope, Sid and Louise, Pen and Sara, Mary and Ralph Sexton and Beck and Sally. It was a beautiful day down on Buzzards Bay. We all had one of the most delightful parties ever. We missed Squid and Marion and Ike and Ida who could not attend. Robbie has written a poem commemorating the occasion. He is indeed a long fellow - physically: Speaking about this Cape Cod visit Sally and Beck spent ten days at Falmouth and were joined there by Robbie and Hope - And later Marion and Carl came over for a luncheon at Landfall at Woods Hole. That, too, was a delightful party.
Having just read the account of the Dartmouth-Holy Cross game last Saturday it occurs to the secretary, we need Myron, Bull, and Matt in there at quarterback, tackle, and end.
C. C. Hills '05 recently sent to me the complete life history of one Jack Sanderson of Orlando, Fla. Jack, you are modest; with your permission I shall release it someday.
King Woodbridge spent part of the summer in Europe. Bruce Sanborn came to his summer home in Lenox, Mass., the secretary's home town, for part of the season and to enjoy the concerts of the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood. Nice to see you, Bruce.
Has anyone seen or heard of our classmate, Major Sharpe - since our reunion? If so, please notify the secretary. Speaking of lost souls, a letter addressed to Eddie MacLennan in California has been returned, address unknown. Where are you, Eddie?
Bill Slayton and one of his associates have been writing about Dartmouth Indians. He asked the secretary for help. All the Indians the secretary ever knew about were Sam Occum of Moor's Charity School; Charlie Eastman of the class of 1887 and Horace Nelson ex-1904. If you know of any other real Dartmouth Indians you would like to have memorialized just write Bill.
Winter is approaching. The Johnsons in keeping with the New England custom have pulled in the front porch, started putting on double windows and doors and are depending upon Frank Drake '02 of Gulf Oil to keep us warm 'til March, when they go to Florida. Keep well - and don't forget to keep in touch with your secretary.
Secretary, 100 North St., Pittsfield, Mass.
