The football season has come and gone and ye sec has been sadly derelict in covering the sawdust trail in pursuit of news that's fit to print.
We had planned to meet a few of the brothers at Harvard and Yale, but the kids graciously allowed us to use the car one Saturday and a little lady who turned to check a new hairdo buried the nose of her Ford two feet into the side of our wagon. Between adjusters and the auto body surgeons that took care of a couple of football weekends, to say nothing of the domestic tranquility of a one-car household.
Old faithful - well faithful anyway - Hank Werner covered the Harvard game during the course of a trip to expose his Patsy to Wellesley and his boy Peter to Milton Academy. Between raindrops he checked in Lee O'Keefe, Ed Brown, Bill Scherman, Jo Wilson and family from Hanover. One of the Big Green cheerleaders was Alan Davies, freshman son of Clarence Davies, who was also at the game.
Hank also throws in a good word for a couple of energetic entrepreneurs, one the 1200 Beacon Street Motel in Bawston who took very good care of the Werner family, and the other the pride of Wall Street, George Copp, who is working on a monthly luncheon group of '34's in downtown NYC.
In addition to the usual, the monthly mail held a few interesting items. That captivating PR piece "Golden Moments with Moebius" - "Published Every So Often by Art Moebius, Aurora, Ohio, America's Garden Spot," inserts within its always pleasant material the information that Art has been temporarily immobilized by an operation that was evidently serious only to Art. And Bill Gilmore out there at Kilquade Ranch where he manufactures Quarter Horses - which will never go in the East because even the two-dollar windows don't get much play anymore - evidently ran out of cowboy stories and picked up the ALUMNI MAGAZINE only to find that John Bathrick's daughter had married his wife's mother's nephew. He can't kid me because Mary read the letter first and had it figured out that his cousinin-law iS the correct interpretation. Bill's ten-year-old daughter is still working hard at the butterfly and in a San Diego meet, although taking second place, still broke the national record.
