John Sweetland (4506 Arden Ave., Minneapolis) Joan writes, "John is back in school. He's taking the course in Hospital Administration here at the Univ. of Minn. We have a new son John Hamilton to keep Jeffrey and Karen company."

Hayes Woolridge (309 W. Market, Clearfield, Penna.) Nancy writes, "Hayes began practicing General Surgery in his hometown of Clearfield on July 1, after completing residence at Upstate Medical Center of New York at Syracuse. At present our family consists of four girls: Ginger, six; Betsy, five; Kit, three; and Stephanie, seven months, along with one overgrown collie named Angus. We will move into our own home by Thanksgiving."

Sumner Arneson (3 Davenport Ave., New Rochelle, N. Y.): "I am now with the B. J. Van Ingen Co. down on Wall Street. This is a firm which deals exclusively with municipal bonds. With my background in the Boston wool trade I have had plenty to do in the first five months. Anyone with a green necktie is welcome to our residence for cocktails at a discount price."

Fred Springer-Miller (San Francisco), Hanover Gazette item:

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Springer-Miller will live in California, where Mr. Springer-Miller, for five years managing editor of Ski Magazine, has joined Specialty Imports Inc. as western manager and national advertising manager with offices in San Francisco. The firm is a large importer of ski equipment and accessories. Mrs. Springer-Miller will act as manager of the San Francisco office and warehouse and assist her husband in his promotional work. Mr. Springer-Miller is a member of a well-known skiing family and was a member of the Dartmouth ski team.

Mike McGean (Hanover) Dartmouth "Bulletin" item:

A number of projects for expansion and improvement in Hanover are underway, preceding the very large construction job for the Hopkins Center. One of the improvements has created the Beefeater, new restaurant replacing the Indian Bowl, whose forerunner was the Wigwam. Owned and operated by a group of alumni and Hanoverians, the new restaurant seeks to serve "top quality food within the students' price range." Steaks, some modest and others thicker and juicier, are featured at the Beefeater, which is operated by J. M. McGean, Assistant Secretary of the College, and four other men.

Mark Lansburgh (Santa Barbara, Calif.); a note from John Scotford in Hanover:

Mark Lansburgh was not at the Tenth Reunion last June because he was in Aspen, Colo., attending the International Design Conference, which attracted 500 conferees from all over the world. Mark is running his own advertising agency, Lansburgh and Oldham, in Santa Barbara. His unique combination of talents, embracing literary ability, visual design and administrative skill, have resulted in a very successful operation and notable campaigns for his clients. He still finds time to turn out handsome typographic specimens on his own press and do some very original calligraphic designing. He has made a study of medieval manuscripts and is building a valuable collection of ancient and rare examples. Not content with an apartment in town and a mountain snuggery, he hopes to get the contractors started soon on a modern house near the ocean, combining the efficiency and clean lines of contemporary architecture with the grace and privacy of the old missions.

Len Smith (35 Walbridge Rd., West Hartford) Len is settled in Hartford finally practicing the plastic surgery for which he trained the usual endless years. "Our new home is quite large, with ten rooms, but it is none too big for our five children. An older place, we are refurbishing left and right. We won't be out of the trenches for years."

Bill Ballard (N.Y.C.): "Like the American automobile and the P-41 of WW II fame, my thumbnail bio in the Directory was obsolete when it rolled from the press. I have changed everything but my name and my wife. New job: from BBDO (world's fourth largest ad agency) to J. Walter Thompson (the biggest) - Excelsior! New home: from Glenbrook, an exurb of Stamford, a suburb, to Pelham Manor, a burg that was apparently settled by Huguenots if the numerous names around town are a true indication. New address is 516 Pelhamdale Ave. New family size: will call for a ? '59 listing. Name drops: Urstadt, who works for Webb and Knapp in my old building (actually it's his building - actually it's Zeckendorf's, but BBDO rents about half of it). Graham (Ed, i.e.) of Indian Joe Schultz hoax-fame. Into them have I run."

Zeiser (Providence) A late note from our head man: "Pat and I ventured to New Haven Saturday to sit through the downpour and the fine victory. There and at the ensuing reunion buffet-dance-cocktail party in nearby Hamden were the following: Tom Towler, Jay Urstadt, Bud Hughes, Sam Kilner, Spike Smith, Dana Miller, Skip Muller, Jack Fitzgerald, Chairman Bob Barnaby, Co-Chairman Pete Bloodsworth, Ray Hammel, Dave Kimball, Sam Stone, Dick Day, Bob Pierce, Cal Titus, Pete Lord, and Scott Whipple. A fine time was had."

It's squash time again, and among those who are at it in Buffalo are Bill Dann '50 and Nelson Graves '50, holders of the doubles title at Buffalo Tennis and Squash Club.
