The Dartmouth College Club of Monmouth County, N. J., held a fall cocktail party and buffet supper at the Fort Monmouth Officers Club on Sunday, October 18. We opened the bar at 4:30 P.M. and were pleased to see a large number on hand right from the start. Usually the practice is to be fashionably late for such affairs, but our Club apparently ignores such foolish custom.
We were fortunate in having Ray Lawrence '47, a Reserve Naval Officer and a member of the Officers Club at Monmouth, make the necessary arrangements for our own private bar and dining room. Government liquor being much less expensive than the regular retail type, the members managed to impress even the hardened Army bartenders assigned to serve us. The Club provided an excellent buffet dinner with no limit on the number of times that the plate could be refilled. Why is it that the larger proportioned members among us were always in evidence at the serving table?
There were about forty members and wives in attendance. The youngest class was represented by George Drawbaugh '59, and the oldest class represented was 1910, in the person of George Chamberlin.
Many of our members expect to go to the Princeton game via The Old Union House Bus. This arrangement will allow you to have a late breakfast in Red Bank, be driven in comfort to the stadium, eat a catered luncheon and again be driven home complete with aisle bar service. No parking or traffic problems plus the luxuries of the Union House hospitality.
