Hammie Hammesfahr has been going around with one arm in a cast. On a trip to London for the National Industrial Conference Board, he had the misfortune to run into a cab. That's how we heard it, he ran into the cab!

Hank Graupner's son, Bill, has been accepted for admission by the Lawrenceville School, where he will be in the first form next fall.

At the Class dinner in New York on March 11 it was decided to hold a big party for '28ers and their wives on May 22 at the Ridgewood Country Club, Ridgewood, N. J., on Chuck Bruder's invitation. Those who can get there early are urged to come for lunch, golf or swimming or just loafing in the sun. Dinner will be around 7 P.M., but get there as early as you can.

At the Dartmouth Club in New York on March 11, the two most tanned individuals were Bud Osborn, just back from a vacation in Puerto Rico and Bill Treaner, who got his at Boca Raton, Fla. Bill Morton missed the dinner because he was in Boca Raton.

At Fathers' Weekend at Skidmore, CourtKeller says he saw Paul Annable, Tom Ellis, Ham Hankins and Bill Heep proudly escorting their daughters around.

Ham Hankins was saluted by the entire assemblage of '28ers on his election as mayor of Franklin Lakes, N. J. This is his second year on the borough council. Ham is vice president of the Wright Aero Division of the Curtiss Wright Corp.

President George Pasfield came over from Philadelphia for the dinner, as did Don Dodd. Don left the Irving Worsted Co., Chester, Penna., nine months ago and now represents four other textile mills.

Joe Smith, who moved back to New York last fall, would like to sell his house in Daytona Beach. Lots of prospects, but nobody wants to put any money down, Joe says.

The day after the New York dinner, I had cocktails with Myles and Margaret Lane in their beautiful apartment overlooking the East River. Comparing vacation notes, we found that the Lanes and the Skinners will be in Heidelberg at the same time — July 2 to 5, visiting Col. Larry Lougee '29. Speaking of Europe, Milt and Peggy Hoefle are talking of making the Grand Tour this summer.

Dr. Les Mason, professor of history at the State University for teachers, Buffalo, spoke on "Germany .and Berlin" in Niagara Falls on Jan. 31 at the Whitney Avenue Adult Education Center.

Dee Runk, who has been associated with the University of Virginia since 1925 when he transferred from Dartmouth, has been appointed Dean of the University.

Stew and Bea Hoagland's son, Carl, and Miss Susan Lee Richmond of Andover, Mass., were married March 14 in the All Saints Church in Belmont. The bride graduated from the Beard School in Orange, N. J., and Carl graduated from Dartmouth in 1957. They will live in Japan where Carl will be stationed with the Army for two years.

Anne Wilkinson's picture appeared in Clementine Paddleford's column in the Herald Tribune on March 7 in a group of ladies attending a cooking class at the Boboli Restaurant.

Willis Mitchell, Toms River, N. J., physician, says he and Grace had a swell trip to Switzerland last September, going by plane. They also saw parts of France and Germany. He and Grace took up figure skating last winter at the rink in Asbury Park. Their daughter, Margaret, graduated from Mt. Holyoke, married a Williams boy and now has a year-old son.

Barney Norton called March 23 to tell us of the death of Ken Kent the day before. Ken was always Mr. Bellows Falls and it was sad that he was crippled for years by multiple sclerosis. Despite his handicap he was courageous and conducted a prosperous paper business.

Four days later Tom Middleton, widely known turkey farmer, died after suffering a heart attack while visiting friends near his home in Danbury, Conn. Tom was certainly stout-hearted when we watched him for five days on an NBC quiz show in July 1957. He proved his extensive knowledge of a wide variety of subjects by winning $3900.
