Here's to George Violante who gives us our new Vice President for this month - having just been made Vice President of Schwab, Beatty & Porter, Inc., the New York advertising agency. George started as a copywriter in 1944 and has been advertising copy supervisor from 1950 until his latest elevation. Good work! George's son is a sophomore at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N. Y.
Congratulations too to Eddie Jeremiah on turning out an Ivy League Championship hockey team. Given reasonably good manpower he can really do it.
Had a nice note from Ed Butterworth which says: "Enclosed herewith is a photostatic copy of the first issue of the 'Hawaii Bar Journal' in which there is an article by Judge McLaughlin. Mrs. Butterworth and I recently spent a vacation in Hawaii, and it was really a tremendous place. We were entertained quite royally by Frank and PollyMcLaughlin and Roger Benezet '32, both of whom it was wonderful to see after all these years." And so Frank McLaughlin makes the column again this month! His article, "To Tell the Truth," traces the development of the giving of an oath in a way even a layman can understand, and Frank makes some stimulating comments of a judicial nature on the significance of the oath.

Probably many of you noted the part that'30 men are taking in the Capital Gifts Campaign. In the latest issue of the paper reporting on the program I noticed flatteringpictures of both Bob Pratt and Art Shurtswho are heading the activity in their respective areas.
Finally in Rhode Island Fran Horn seems to be settling in very comfortably as President of R. I. U. having made his first appearance at the Westerly Lions Club.
