As we head into the fall season and a new year for the club, it appears to be a good time to review some of our accomplishments of the recent past.
Our largest event of the year was the Glee Club Concert. Naturally, the preparation required considerable effort from the committee members, but it was worth it. Over 1250 people attended the splendid performance, and we were able to add a considerable amount to our scholarship fund.
The fund has now reached the $3500 mark and is growing steadily, thanks to the continuing support of so many local grads who send in contributions with their club dues each year.
Under the leadership of Tom Malcolm, our enrollment committee succeeded in getting 85 boys to apply for admission to this year's freshman class. Of these, 33 were accepted and 18 are part of the Class of '64. Nine boys were granted early admission. Thanks for the grand job, Tom.
For the first time this year we actually sent out ballots for the election of officers. We must have put up a good slate because every nominee was elected. Or it could have been the lack of provision for a dissenting vote on the ballots. Only a few returns contained snide comments but they were of very high caliber, of course. Here's the winning slate:
President, Barry Sullivan '36; First Vice President, George Flather '41; Assorted Vice Presidents, Larry Pope '18, Dick Whiting '44, Bob Munson '4B; Secretary, Brad Cole '43; Treasurer, Jack McRae '32.
Secretary, 1706 Myrtle Road, Forest Grove Park Silver Spring, Md.
