Bill Sanborn and his wife Edith visited the Pacific coast in July. Travelling by air, they visited San Francisco, and visited Bill's sister at Carmel, and then visited Edith's two sons, who are employed by Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. Since their return to their home, Bill has been appointed Clerk of Works at the Framingham (Mass.) State Teachers College.
Phil and Theora Chase have, as usual, spent most of the summer at their Kennebunk, Me., home. Congratulations to Phil for the Alumni Fund leadership in the class group in which '07 belongs.
The Bishop Niles and the Dick Lanes were near neighbors in West Falmouth, Mass., during the summer months. Bill Ahern was a welcome visitor.
Too many '07 men and wives are reporting health problems. Marguerite Heneage has been confined in hospital and home for nearly a year. Recent report, however, is that she is making good progress. Miss Annah Hazen has also been confined to her home for most of this year, but is currently reporting improved health. It is a pleasure to report that Bill Smart's wife Ruth is making an excellent recovery from a broken hip. Bill has temporarily discontinued his bankruptcy practice to concentrate on the problems of a large company in the dairy field.
Bishop Ben Washburn and his wife Henrietta visited Jim O'Neill and his wife Edith during the summer. Both live in Connecticut, the Washburns in Ridgefield and the O'Neills in Lakeville. Ben has retired from his bishopric, and Jim continues his writing and lecturing activities.
More very sad news - the death of Tom Perry on August 20, was reported by his widow. He died of cancer after a short illness. Tom had retired in 1948 and had planned to write a novel.
You may not belive that George Grebenstein has just recently enjoyed his 76th birthday. Most of us know that, if true, it means that he will take on more activities than heretofore and like it. '07's Iron Man!
Al Stevens has had hard going during 1960. In January, he broke a hip bone, which is mending satisfactorily. But recently, he has not been well and is currently in the Deaconess Hospital, Boston, for diagnosis and possible operation.
