Time passes so quickly it hardly seems as if one issue of the MAGAZINE is ready before I'm preparing for the next. For me, however, time really seems to be passing as I am taking my son to his first Dartmouth football game this year. I feel as if it won't be long now before he will be interested in becoming an Indian, so he might as well be trained properly from the start.
For all of you, things are moving also. GilShattuck last month married Sieglinde Pfaller of Vienna, Austria. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Sieglinde majored in portraiture. Gil is currently in the accounting department of Warner Bros. Company in Bridgeport, Conn. He lives in nearby Trumball.
Dave Loye moved up to Princeton, N. J., with wife Billy and their four children, from Oklahoma City where he was editor of a magazine called Oklahoma Today. Dave is now working for Carl Byoir Associates, a large public relations firm in Manhattan. During the summer Ray Richard moved from Fitchburg, Mass., down here to Elmsford in Westchester County which is about five miles from me. Dave is back with his old firm of McKinsey & Co., management consultants in New York. Dave reports that Gloria and the boys, Bruce five and David three, are very happy here. At this point he is renting, but expects to build in the near future.
I enjoyed an overnight visit from my old roommate Lany Brisbin last week. Lany was in New York for a convention without Joan for a few days. We enjoyed talking about old times until neither of us could stay awake. I was very happy to hear Lany reached the finals of the West Virginia State men's tennis tournament this year. He was defeated in a close match and he and Joan lost in the finals in the State mixed doubles tournament.
Bill Pettit just moved into one of his own new houses in Columbus, Ohio, which I am sure is the latest design in every respect. Bill is one of the most prominent home builders in the area. Lots of luck in the new house, Bill and Liz!
Gordon Winkler has joined Theodore R. Sills and Company, public relations firm, as a vice president. For the past seven years he has been associated with Daniel J. Edelman and Associates in Chicago and prior to that was a reporter with the Chicago Tribune. The Sills organization has offices in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. Gordon and his family are living at 417 Lakeside Terrace, Glencoe, Ill.
A little further South Art and VedaSchoen also moved to a new house. Art is a health physicist with the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission at Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Schoens have two sons, Chris now six and Eric four.
As long as we are in that area we can move a little West to visit Frank Murphy in Little Rock, Ark. Frank is a division engineer with the Arkansas Fuel Oil Corp., a subsidiary of Cities Service. Frank and Marguerite have a boy Bobbie, eleven.
Bob Sherman and Muriel are living on Coolidge Street in Westfield, N. J. Son Doug is eleven and daughter Leslie is four. Bob is assistant manager of the casualty underwriting department for the Travelers Insurance Co. office in lower Manhattan.
Out in California we find Ken and Barbara Carpenter living in lovely Los Gatos down on the peninsula below San Francisco. Ken works for the Federal Pacific Electric Co. as sales engineer in nearby Santa Clara.
Down in southern California Lee Browne is with Interstate Electronics which is an electronic engineering publication. Lee and Luisa live in Cupertino, Calif. The Brownes have three children: Christine eight, Claudia six and Cary two.
Recently I heard Ira Robins moved to a new house out in Baldwin, Long Island. Ira is a plant engineer with the C.H.C. Mfg. Co. in Lynbrook, Long Island. I don't know what the initials stand for, but the company makes plastic novelties and purses. Ira and Sue have two sons, Paul nine, and Andy, five.
So we don't neglect any section of the country in this report, we might stop in and see Russ Palmer in Hartford. Russ is doing very well as superintendent of the group division for the Aetna Life Insurance Co. He and Elsie, along with Gil seven, Elizabeth five and Curt two, live in nearby West Hartford.
Between now and the next edition, I hope to see some of you at the Big Green games. Until then keep cheering.
