But for the following from the College there might not have been any notes this issue.

The class elm at the southwest corner of the campus succumbed to Dutch Elm disease and during the summer had to be removed. However the College has assigned another elm to the class and moved our marker to a young and handsome elm growing near the senior fence. Don't forget the new location and pay your respects when next you visit Hanover.

October Wah Hoo Wah column carried name of Dr. Roy F. Bergengren Jr. '36 elected President of Daytona Beach Junior College, Fla. - son of our Roy and Gladys Bergengren. Congratulations and best wishes to you, Roy, from your dad's class.

Would have been a washout for news direct from the class but for Harold Hess' annual report and a last minute note from that big little man from Binghamton, N. Y., Aguinaldo E. Smith who is planning a visit to Hanover to see the Columbia game having finished his fall planting and got everything in readiness for a north country winter. AG sent on a bit of poetry which might interest all of us. Will give the first and last verses:

I'm Fine

There's nothing whatever the matter with me I'm just as healthy as I can be. I have arthritis in both knees And when I talk I talk with a wheeze. My pulse is weak and my blood is thin But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

The moral is this as this tale we unfold That for you and me who are growing old, It's better to say "I'm fine" with a grin Than to let folks know the shape I'm in.

Harold's reports are always of interest not only because he keeps the class solvent but also for maintaining over the years an almost unanimous response to an annual call for dues. Last year as you know 44 responded to Harold's call - grand - and but 24 were in touch with the "sec." The "sec" thinks that was a pretty good figure too. He would naturally like to gather more into the fold and he doesn't want to see any shrinkage. This season we seem to be getting off to a bit of slow start, so - let's get up - take a seventh inning stretch - give a couple of Pothole Eskers and make a resolve to write the class not necessarily the "sec" regularly in 1961.

That date made the "sec" realize the Christmas and New Year season will be over before the next issue of the notes will appear — so from the Wadhams many thanks for keeping us cheered up during the past year by your kindly notes and please accept our sincere good wishes for Christmas and 1961.
