On Saturday, December 26, the day after Christmas, the Dayton Dartmouth alumni held their annual "Enrollment Luncheon" for prospective freshmen from the local area high schools. Along with a good number of local alumni, about 35 high school seniors who are interested in applying to Dartmouth were hosted and entertained for luncheon at the Van Cleve Hotel. This affair has turned into something of an annual feature and the results in past years have been very encouraging. We have been able to send to Dartmouth several top-notch boys from the local area who have been stand-outs either in athletics or scholastically (or both), including the captain of next year's football team, Ken DeHaven.

Bill Craig '44, vice president of the group, presided due to the illness of Howard Roxborough '54, our president. Tom Gillaugh '46, Chairman of the Dayton Enrollment Committee, welcomed the boys and explained certain necessary procedures which they would have to go through provided their interest was sufficient to attempt to make next year's freshman class. Dick Scharrer '46, Chairman of the Interviewing Committee, was also present, and all alumni attempted to answer questions which any of the group of boys asked.

We were also fortunate to have a good number of current undergraduates from the Dayton area present at the function, headed by the aforementioned captain-elect of the football team, Ken DeHaven. Among the undergraduates there were Mike Stephen '62, Jack Heide '61, Fred Meyer '62, Alfred McCray '62, Mike Miller '63, and Jack Kinderdine '61, second-string quarterback on this year's outstanding team and a leading aspirant for next year's first-string assignment. A highlight of the afternoon was the showing of the brand-new film, "Football Highlights of 1959," which had just been received from' the College. Ken DeHaven did a fine job in adding points of interest to the narration of the film, and this was no doubt an impressive thing to the boys present.

There are a good many prospects from the Dayton area who would make the finest kind of Dartmouth men and our intention is to follow up very closely with the more outstanding ones at least.

At a recent meeting of the Merrimack County Dartmouth Association were: (left to right) James C. Bingham '18, incoming president; Dudley W. Orr '29, Trustee of the College and also of the Club's scholarship fund; Dean Thaddeus Seymour; and Philip D. McInnis '36.
