The questionnaires are coming in nicely. If you haven't returned yours, I hope that you will dig it out and send it on its way soon.

Upon his retirement from the Air Force last year, Ernie Field enrolled in the Class of 1962 at San Diego State College, picking up where he left off at Dartmouth. His plans include a Master's degree, then teaching. We hope that his graduation will not interfere with his attendance at his 35th. reunion in Hanover.

Max Shaw, in addition to his principal activity as partner in a Boston employment agency, spends part of his time as a builder of merry-go-rounds, continuing a business which was established by his grandfather, who built the first carrousels and roller coasters in the United States.

Steve Tracy, senior partner in firm of Tracy and Hildreth, architects in Nashua, N.H., is the secretary of the New Hampshire Board of Registration for Architects, a past president of the New Hampshire Chapter, American Institute of Architects, president of the Nashua Y.M.C.A., a trustee of Kimball Union Academy, and also finds time to serve as chairman on the local alumni interviewing committee.

Ken Murray is a member of the Water Policy and Supply Council of the State of New Jersey.

Jock Davis, who with his brother operates a 1500-acre fruit and dairy farm at Sterling Junction, Mass., is president of the Eastern States Farmers' Exchange. He is also a trustee of the Worcester County Extension Service, and a director of the Clinton Trust Company and of the Massachusetts Fruit Growers Association.

Jack Thees is the chairman of the National Advertiser Relations Committee of the Newspaper Advertising Executives Association.

Ed Miner has resigned as president of Oregon County Community College.

John Gardner, who has been living in Hamilton, Ontario, for the past several years, has returned to the home office of American Can Company in New York, and is living at 45 West Road in New Canaan, Conn.

Bob Bliss, co-publisher and editor of the Janesville, Wis., Gazette, reports that his daughter, Barbara, was married in July, at Fort Worth, Texas, to Kenneth A. Freeman. Bob is a trustee of Milton College, serves on the board of the local community chest, is an officer of Industrial Education for Foreign Students, Inc., and is active in the development of the projected Ice Age Moraine National Park. He also takes an active part in the extremely successful Wisconsin enrollment program, which in the past several years has resulted in sending to Dartmouth .a large proportion of the outstanding boys from "that state. He and Carolyn are planning a European trip in April.

Special thanks to Dime Benson, whose questionnaire was the first to be received. He reports that his two sons chose Hamilton College, rather than Dartmouth, so his interest has necessarily been there for the past several years. His older son graduated in 1956, received his M.S. in mathematics from M.I.T. the next year, was with the Army in Washington for two years, and is now at the University of California, in Berkeley. The younger son is currently spending his junior year at the University of Paris. Dime's 1927 contacts recently include a visit from Charlie and Mary Fleischer and lunch with Charlie and Joe Creamer while in New York to see his son off for France.

Larry Scammon and Les Battin were in Hanover the last weekend in January, for the meeting of Head Agents and Newsletter Editors. This was a kickoff for the 1960 Alumni Fund Campaign, which will resume full scale activity after having been subordinated to the Capital Gifts Campaign for the past three years.

The flow of birthday cards has suddenly reversed itself, and your secretary finds himself on the receiving end. To all of you who have sent cards and messages, sincere thanks. It's good to be remembered. And if, as I strongly suspect, this deluge is the result of some deep conspiracy (since otherwise I don't know how you all could have found out when my birthday is), special thanks to the anonymous conspirators.
