This has been a quiet month for alumni of the area, with the autumnal round of football weekends interrupted by only one or two doings of interest.
Some thirty graduates gathered at the University Club on Dartmouth Night and raised voices in song (am I mistaken or are the words somewhat less well remembered than they were?) led by the excellent baritone of Don Jones '43. Then Monte Pascoe '57 flashed his union card and ran the magic lantern which was a one-reel sound epic involving the '61 football team and narrated by the familiar voice of Coach Bob Blackman. A round of drinks were had by all and then we wended our various ways home in a reflective mood.
Frank Logan '52 from the office of Admissions passed this way and sowed the seeds of interest in the suburban high schools and independent schools during the day. In the evening he joined with our own admissions men and exchanged professional pleasantries with the advisors of the fine Denver high schools.
The flags of conviviality were flown at half mast recently in recognition of a clear call for two of the alumni group by a militant Uncle Sam. Paul Clarkin '59 and JimSwanson '59 both are in the Army as members of the Medical Corps. Paul is near Denver at Camp Carson as a private; and Jim exercises the traditional rights of corporal at Camp Polk, Louisiana.
The familiar face of Don McMahon '40 was in view in the Denver Post last week along with a complimentary article concerning Don's assumption of an even more responsible position in the complicated natural gas industry. Such talents that rest in the. shadow of Pike's Peak!
Don Jones '53 starts a song at the Dartmouth Night gathering of the DartmouthAlumni Association of the Great Divide as Denver alumni renewed their fellowship.
