THE Dartmouth College Club of New York has signed a lease with the Hotel Commodore for permanent Club facilities on the completely redecorated south mezzanine of that hotel. It will not occupy its new quarters until early September; during the interim summer period the Dartmouth Club is enjoying the privileges of the Williams Club, located at 24 East 39th Street, virtually across the street from the old club house.
The move to the Commodore, centrally located between Lexington and Park Avenues on 42nd Street, adjoining the Grand Central Station, was occasioned by the sale of the Princeton Club property on 39th Street, a location which the Dartmouth Club had shared for twenty years. The Princeton Club is building a new ten-story club house on West 43rd Street.
Complete details about the Dartmouth Club facilities at the Commodore will soon be forthcoming. Alumni, however, can look forward to:
More space - over 6500 square feet of spacious club rooms - some 3000 square feet more than in the 39th Street quarters.
Larger club dining facilities - including several private dining rooms - service up to 150.
Expanded bar facilities - including both a stand-up bar and separate lounge.
Private conference rooms - for business meetings, etc.
Shower and dressing facilities - for party-goers, etc.
Preference in reservations for Commodore rooms.
Expanded ladies' facilities - including cocktail lounge, dining rooms and dressing facilities.
