President Dickey Gets LL.D.

President Dickey received Bowdoin's honorary Doctorate of Laws at the college's 156th commencement on June 9. The citation called him "this blithe spirit of academia" and said: "Now the puissant and seasoned President of a peerless liberal college grown to university function, he is foresightedly concerned that the able leaders of tomorrow graduating from our colleges of today be men of commitment and dedication, as well as men of knowledge, skill, understanding, and wisdom."
