Dick Blum, Chairman of our 10th Reunion, held his first committee meeting in New York on January 20. General plans for "the best time ever" in June 1963 were discussed by Dick and his operating committee heads - Jim Courtney, Bob Callender, Paul Paganucci, Bill Johnson, Sherm Horton, DickHall, and Don Bigham. From now on you will be kept fully informed of all reunion plans through this column, our class newsletter and even by some new, secret methods of communication. All in all, your Executive Committee and your 10th Reunion Committee are out to make this an event you won't dare miss - because it's your weekend!

Howard Clery called an Executive Committee meeting in New York on the same day. General class business was discussed with special emphasis on reunion affairs and the Harvard-Yale-and-Princeton social events for '62. More'news on these events later on.

Across my desk this week comes the newsclipping picture of a very attractive gal by the name of Martha Reeves. Gib Murphy is the guy who got the "yes" answer and is due to be married shortly. Martha's home was Wheeling, W. Va., was graduated from Rosemont College and is now employed in the personnel division of the Bureau of the Mint in Washington, D. C. Gib is a partner in the law firm of Luby, Murphy, and Marsh and is on the faculty of the University of Hartford, Conn. And in May, plans are underway for Bob Heilmann to marry Mary Odell of Washington, D. C., who is presently secretary to U.S. Representative William H. Avery of Kansas. Bob is associated with Cities Service Oil Co. in Baltimore, Md.

Just around Christmastime Dick Cahn took the big step and married Vivian Melsin in New York. Dick went on to Yale Law School after graduation, where he was elected to the Law Journal. He is now a member of the law firm of Cahn and Cahn in New York. Much happiness to you both!

Here's a grand shot of Dick and ArleneGoodman and their family. Susan, on the left is four and a half. David Allan, three months old, born Sept. 26, and Jane five and a half. Dick received his doctorate degree in Education at Harvard in June 1961, and is now Superintendent of Schools in Milford, N. H.

And up Wilbraham, Mass., way Ed Knapp is gaining renown for one of the more ambitious do-it-yourself projects in the area, - building a three-story A-frame house. Ed and Carole have three girls and did most of the work themselves to build this unique addition on to their home which overlooks the Mt. Holyoke range in Hampshire County. Ed is not a contractor by trade, but rather a chemist at Shawinigan Resins Corp. Ed chose an A-frame building, he said, because it offered "the most economical way to enclose a given area of living space."

NEWS WHILE IT IS NEWS - Bob letter was married Sat., Nov. 25 in Syracuse, N.Y., to Marilyn Ann Ryan. Bob is teaching Social Studies in the Senior High School at East Greenbush and Marilyn is a member of the faculty of the Elementary school there. Bob also has the honor of being president of the local teachers' association. After graduation from college, Bob went on to receive his Master's degree from the University of Wyoming in '54, then attended the University of Munich in Germany for one year and the University of Chicago for two years; Bill King, a lawyer in Boston with Haussermann, Davison, and Shattuck.

A welcomed letter from Ollie Conover brings news of a .new son - Jeffrey, born Dec. 26. Ollie also reports that in his "spare" time he serves as secretary of the Monmouth County Dartmouth Club, president of the Monmouth County Insurance Agents Assoc., Alumni Director at Valley Forge Military Academy and Vice President of the Spring Lake, N. J., Business Association. Ollie says: "We see a lot of Ed andJan Boyer and Jim and Shirley Cobb since they've moved to our area. The Cobbs have a new son, Michael, born Sept. 14, and the Boyers are expecting their third child in March." Ollie ends by saying "See you in '63."

While 11,000 miles from Hanover and walking down Queen's Road in Hong Kong, Dick Simpson stopped to drop a card to say, "After completing my residency training in Radiology, the Navy sent me to Subic Bay, Philippine Islands, where I am serving as Base Radiologist. I was selected for promotion to Lieutenant Commander (M.C.) last month. I have my family with me which now includes three boys, ages four, three years, and four months. The welcome mat is always out for any '53 transients in this part of the world."

Earle Robinson is now working in Holland; Bill Friedman and Monk Robinson recently graduated from a 16-week Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. Bill is President of Bogart Manufacturing Co. in New York and Monk is Vice President of Sales, Atlas Paper Box Co. in Lookout Mountain, Tenn.
