The winter meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Monmouth County was held on Friday, January 26, by special arrangement at Gibbs Hall, Fort Monmouth. Due to the large amount of business to be transacted, the wives were left at home this year. Robert M. Norton '33 of Rumson, one of the alumni most active in enrollment and admission work in the New Jersey area, gave an informative talk on the type of man the College is seeking and generally how the College selects such a man for the freshman class. Many of our members gained new insight into this work by the talk and by the question period that followed. The film "Dartmouth Visited" was then shown.
The new officers for 1962 elected at this meeting are William L. Russell Jr. '35, Rumson, N. J., President; William Abernathy '50, Fair Haven, Vice President; Philip F. Tusting '18, Asbury Park, Treasurer; and William K. Madden '54, Middletown, Secretary.
The new Executive Committee consists of Charles F. Schlenker '41, Oliver B. Conover '53, Daniel M. Winters '43, Robert L. Hensler '44, Robert M. Norton '33, George W. Emery '28, J. William Morgan '29, Frederick M. Darche '55, Raymond J. Lawrence '47, Joseph A. Millar '23, and George F. Baine Jr. '41.
The Club planned to attend the hockey game at Princeton Rink on March 3. Dr.George H. Burke '43 was rounding up the members who don't mind cold feet to lead them over to Old Nassau to cheer the Big Green team out on the ice.
Edgar B. Blake '25 and his wife have invited the Club to have its spring party at their home in Rumson. This affair has always been the biggest of our annual series of events, and we are expecting a large gathering at the Blakes.
