The Annual College Night Dinner was held Tuesday, March 6, with Provost John Masland as the guest speaker. This was the largest meeting ever held in Sarasota, with Ned Loveland '10 coming from Ft. Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Horton Conrad '25 driving over from Lakeland and the Dartmouth Colony on Anna Maria Island well represented by Mr. and Mrs. Roger Brown '05, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kenyon '07, Mr. and Mrs. HoraceKidger '03, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hobbs '04, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Rutherford '08, Allan Brown '07 and Don Houghton '07.

Among the honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. James H. Orr, Harvard '20, head of Colonial Management Associates which manages the Dartmouth Endowment Fund, and Mr. and Mrs. Wells Coggleshall, Harvard '50 who is associated with Mr. Orr as Vice President of Colonial Distributors.

President Bob Hardy '25 presided at the meeting and introduced Prof. Masland. Sumner Emerson '17 delivered the invocation.

Prof. Masland's talk was most interesting and very well received by us Floridians who seldom get a chance to visit the College. In a most detailed fashion, we were taken on a tour of the Campus and, on the academic side, were taken into different departments for a glimpse behind the scenes. The total effect of John Masland's talk was that Dartmouth is definitely on the march, not only in regard to the physical plant, but also in the more important area of Faculty and curriculum.

February 12 saw our annual pilgrimage to Anna Maria Island, where the luncheon meeting was held at the Holmes Beach Yacht Club. All the Anna Maria group mentioned above played host to the gathering; the fame of these annual occasions has spread far and wide with the result that, this year, attendance more than doubled over last year to a total of 46. One wife, Ginny Bonnyman '38 was so determined to attend that, without lunch, she drove twenty miles to be present for only the last thirty minutes.

There was a round table discussion led by Charlotte and Hugh Morrison '26, who answered our many questions with their usual humor and acumen.

This was one of the finest meetings we have ever had and the Anna Maria contingent outdid themselves in their hospitality. Those who attended are eagerly awaiting next February.

Principals at the Sarasota, Fla., alumni gathering March 6 were Sumner Emerson '17,club vice president; Prof. John W. Masland, Provost of the College, who was theguest speaker; Robert C. Hardy '25, president; and James Bonnyman '38, secretary.
