It was back on Dartmouth Night, 1961, that the Dartmouth Club of New York moved into its handsome new quarters in the Commodore Hotel. The paint was barely dry before the men's bar and the ladies' cocktail lounges were humming - and it's been that way, but more so, ever since. The open invitation to all Dartmouth men to visit the Club when they are in New York is always extended.

The "1962 Perspectives" series of evening discussions has been especially well received. Josh Davis '27 spoke about stocks and bonds, Bob Misch '25 gave a fascinating discourse on wines (with accompanying tasting), and His Excellency Sukardjo Wirojpranoto, the Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations, spoke on the customs and philosophy of his homeland. Professor Al Foley '20 journeyed down from Vermont to give New Yorkers a fascinating and amusing look into the folkways of Vermont, and Professor Lew Stillwell shook the walls with his "Battle a Day the Stillwell Way." To finish the series on May 9 Charles Zimmerman '23 and Douglas S. Craig '24 will talk on "Insurance."

Other recent activities have included a St. Valentine's Day dance and a St. Patrick's dance. On April 25 a well-attended reception was held for the past Officers and Governors of the Club, a yearly custom carried over from the old quarters on 39th Street. On May 16 a large number of Dartmouth alumni and friends are expected at a reception honoring President Emeritus Hopkins. The presence of President Hopkins will make Club members sure that the Commodore Hotel facilities are, indeed, "home."

Among the Dartmouth men in Congress who greeted President Dickey at the Washington dinner on April 3 were (l to r): Congressmen David T. Martin '29, HermanT. Schneebeli '30, and Edwin B. Dooley '26, former House Speaker Joseph W. Martin, LL.D. '55, Mr. Dickey, and Congressmen Thomas B. Curtis '32 and John S.Monagan '33.
