Let's get a great big bowl, fill it with Vodka (a non-communist brand), add a dash of Hanover bitters and a liberal helping of Spirits of Nostalgia, and raise it in salutation to the following youngsters whose birthdays occur in October: Buck, Conn, Duke, Flanders, Fuller, Green, Humphries, Johnson, Kehayas, Lincoln, Lyons, Margeson, Peppard, Simanton, Smith, and Van Riper.

Now here is a request which everyone of us should heed. Ellsworth Buck, who is doing a Herculean job on our Golden Book, asks that every class member inform him immediately of any change in permanent address, family status, and business connections. "Bucky" would also like to have dates of recent retirements. I have seen the plans for this book; I know the hours and hours that Ellsworth has put into this production, and I earnestly ask that you forward all this information to Ellsworth at 152 Stuyvesant Place, Staten Island 1, N. Y.

You may call him Mr. Trott. Some get the habit of calling him Chairman, but now you can call him Dr. Trott because in June the University of Rhode Island conferred on Ray the honorary title of Doctor of Laws. Ray thought he had retired as President and Chairman of the Board of the Rhode Island Hospital Trust Company, but the Gorham Company - one of the world's leading silversmiths - tapped him for the position as Chairman of their Board. Apparently Rhode Island can't get enough of Trott. Incidentally, though you may call him what you want, I have a furtive suspicion he would much rather have you call him "Ray."

Here's one for Mr. Ripley in "Believe it or not." Our distinguished E. NewmanGiles shot a 71 in golf on his seventy-first birthday. That is one over par at Bradenton - and a helluva lot better than most of us ever dream of doing. Hail, "Newmy."

At long last a letter from "Hen" Lowell from 25 Whiting Road, Wellesley Hills, Mass. He is still designing and building houses, and in his spare time dabbles in ceramic sculpture. His health is good and his spirits are high which may or may not be aided by the fact that each of his three sons lives within a fifteen-mile drive from his house. Do you ever baby sit for your grandchildren and are all eight of them girls? These rhetorical questions are left to your own conscience.

Our perennial Pennell Aborn reports a very pleasant luncheon visit with Mary and "Rocky" Flanders in their beautiful Bermuda "Rocky" has issued an invitation to all '14ers to visit him in Bermuda but we are not all so well shod as "Pen" Aborn. "The spirit is willing but the pocketbook is weak."

They keep piling honors on the Sachem of White River Junction. "Mart" Remsen has just been elected Vice President of our Bequest and Estate Planning Association. The job could not be in more capable hands. If this is bigotry make the most of it.

All these foregoing people have helped us greatly by sending us a few notes and I assure you that this help is appreciated. Will you do the same? We'd like it a lot.

We have just received the very sad news of the passing of "Win" Mayo and "Sam"Cole; more complete notice will appear in this or a subsequent issue of the MAGAZINE.
