Again thanks to the Alumni Records office we have a fairly good supply of class news for this issue. But, when you guys stop paying your press agents and the newspaper articles run dry, I'm afraid I'll run dry too. As one of our newly graduated M.D.s might say, "cough!" My address is on top here. Send me some news.

Still from the summer we have a long list of miscellaneous news, most of which deserves congratulations of one sort or another. Bob Liberman was awarded his degree from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to this he received several awards and a fellowship to study at the University of California Medical Center where he received his Master of Science degree. Bob will intern at the Bronx Municipal Hospital in New York. Bob Friedman earned his degree from N.Y.U. College of Dentistry, took his new bride, Patricia Carole Morrison, to Bermuda for a honeymoon, and then headed for Augusta, Ga., where they will live while he serves with the Army Dental Corps at Fort Gordon for two years. Al Gilburg graduated from Union Theological Seminary last June and has become assistant minister of Westmoreland Congregational church near Washington, D. C. Al served in hospitals, the LENA Narcotics Center and several churches, one in Bethel, Vt., during his free moments and summers while attending Union.

Turning specifically to the armed forces, we can congratulate Dave Porter for being awarded the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal for outstanding performance of duty while serving as project officer for the space boosters and standard launch vehicle directorates. I imagine a number of men spent their annual two weeks as guests of Uncle Sam in summer camp. Bill Long went with the 1163rd Army Reserve unit from White Plains, N. Y., to spend some time playing war at Fort Lee, Va., in mid-August.

News of degrees received continues to filter in. Fred Scribner took his law degree from Harvard where several other '59s culminated work in other fields: Jon Swenson earned his degree in Business; Bill Truex received his Bachelor of Architecture degree, and Murray Towle became another one of our many doctors. Arnie Rosenblatt was awarded his M.D. cum laude by Tufts Med School, celebrated by marrying Linda Kades, and the couple now resides near Boston, where Arnie is interning at Boston City Hospital.

Making the transition to weddings and wedding plans we find that Dick Macht, presently working on a Ph.D. at Brandeis, took Christa Guenther as his bride. The Machts reside in Waltham, Mass. GeorgeKraus plans to wed Patricia Confoy in December. Herb Schoenberg married Anne Westerman back on June 30, honeymooned at Miami Beach, and returned to resume work with a Manhattan law firm. HarryDowning married Sally Heath in August and has been associated with Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Chicago.

Other bits of various news include Dr.Charlie Eytel who took wife Mary Ann and two children to Guam for two years to practice medicine at the Navy Hospital there. Charlie was the honored intern at graduation of internes from the U.S. Navy Hospital at San Diego and addressed the graduating class. Jim Jensen recently graduated from the E. F. Hutton and Co., training school for Registered Representatives and is currently working as a broker in the nationwide New York Stock Exchange firm's New York office. Kent Rickenbaugh has been appointed assistant general manager of the Rickenbaugh Cadillac Company in Denver. He had served in a number of positions with his father's firm before assuming his present responsibilities. Nice going, Kent. Enjoy that Rocky Mountain ski season. We New Englanders will drool while we fight the long lines at the Skiway on weekends. John Horan has been appointed an assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The Horans presently live in Manhattan. Keep 'em honest, John!

Well, the well is now dry, as are many wells in the currently colorful but arid state of New Hampshire. Add a post card to the mails and fill up my news reservoir or the '59 column for December will be very thirsty - you might have to read all about what we Emmets do to prepare for "wintah": "ta paypa" the foundation, "git" the wood in, and seal up the "stom" sash, etc. Better send some news!
