A well-attended summer outing was highlighted by a delectable Chinese dinner at General Lee's restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. This was followed by a ballgame in Chavez Ravine where the Los Angeles Dodgers were pitted against the Milwaukee Braves. It was good to see Walter Kong '29 in from Santa Barbara and his son, Dr.Thomas Kong '54.
Club President Don DesCombes '54 presented a handsome desk set to Bob Purvis'49 who retired as secretary after ten years of valued service to the Club. Gene Givens'55 has been named as assistant secretary and Bill Myers '57 has been appointed to represent the local Dartmouth Club on the Ivy League Council in Los Angeles and in joint meetings with the Seven Women's College Council.
At the September luncheon, Chuck Robinson '31 led a fruitful session in discussing and expanding the scope of the enrollment program for 1963-4. Over 60 alumni will be assisting Chuck in this work in the coming year. At an earlier luncheon, John Lyman '28 provided those in attendance with a humorous account of some of the highlights of the club activities over the years. Few can surpass the power of description and ready wit provided by this eloquent orator. Repeat performance requested!
