My first attempt, as Class Secretary, to get out a newsletter was that for the December, '62 MAGAZINE. There was a good deal to write in that first letter, changes in class jobs. Harold Hess' sudden death, etc. This then will be the first of my second year's efforts. Most of you have gone into the silences - only my old standby and good friend Pray Wadham has come across since the November writing and with his letter inclosed letters to him from a few of you. With one exception all these inclosures have been taken care of, mostly in the November MAGAZINE. Bill Connor wrote Pray a good letter regretting he could not be with us in June but hopes for better luck at our 65th in '68 as do we all. To those who have not written I can only hope that "no news is good news."
A 1902 Newsletter of Sept. 16 from Julius A. Brown, Secretary, is devoted entirely to the Arthur Chivers, 1902, of Meriden, N.H. He and Helen Chivers celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in August. Over 200 guests attended their reception.
A very warming letter from Chairman Charles F. Moore Jr. '25 of the Alumni Fund expresses the appreciation of the Fund Committee, its chairman and the staff at Hanover for what we were able to do in making the 1963 effort the success it was. The goal for the 50th year campaign in '64 has been set at $1,500,000.
Last fall your Secretary promised when he got more or less oriented he would try to answer each of your letters to him. I hope he has made good - if there have been any fall downs, please get busy and bawl me out.
The age groupings I mentioned in a previous letter (and based on Sept. 30, '63 information) showed 44 men still on our list of Oct. 4, 1962. The oldest group, one man, is 88; the youngest group, three, are 81; the average age according to my figuring is 82.7 years. Possibly the Tuck School might get different results. There are 33 in the 82 and 83 year groups.
My personal greetings and good wishes and the same from Mrs. Ag to all of you and yours for a Happy Holiday Season and the best of good living and true joy in the New Year, 1964.
Secretary, 13 Vermont Ave. Binghamton, N.Y.
Treasurer, 1822 Willow Rd., Cedar Village Camp Hill, Pa.
