A few months ago Pete Fishbein, busy at his New York law practice, received an unexpected long distance phone call from Washington. "This is Sargent Shriver," announced the voice at the other end of the line. "I'd like to talk to you. Can you come down to Washington?" Our surprised hero had never met Mr. Shriver, but Pete had been recommended to him, and he had an important job to fill. So Pete went to Washington and accepted Mr. Shriver's offer to become a deputy secretary general in the Peace Corps' new international secretariat, which is working with over a dozen foreign countries to help them set up their own Peace Corps.

Pete began work in January - in Paris. He spent his first three weeks hopping from one foreign capital to another before finally checking into his Washington office for the first time. Since then he's continued globetrotting much of the time, and with great success. "We've got Peace Corps popping up all over the place," he reports enthusiastically.

Another government foreign aider, ScottRutherford, in May left the Pakistan section of the Agency for International Development in Washington, and shipped out for - of all places - Pakistan. He, Dee and their two children stopped over briefly in Paris and Beirut, tarried a week in Karachi for "consultation and orientation," then moved on to Dacca, East Pakistan, where they'll be for two years. Scott is the assistant program officer there, dealing — as he did in Washington - with development loan projects and planning, and he expects his duties to send him scurrying all over East Pakistan.

Meanwhile, back on the free enterprise scene, Tom Roulston branched out from the Cleveland! brokerage of Gunn, Carey & Roulston to form his own firm, Roulston & Co., with a seat on the Midwest Stock Exchange and capital of over $100,000. HenryNeuberger is the manager of the rental office leasing space in One Center Plaza, the first privately-financed office building constructed in Boston's immense new urban development, Government Center.

Bob Feltman left the steel business in Atlanta to take over North Carolina coverage for the reflective products division of Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co. He, Kathy and "two Indians, Douglas, 2, and Scotty, 3" are living in Charlotte. HankStephenson became resale office manager for Mobil Oil Co.'s New England division. He coordinates all phases of retail activity, dealing with sales volume, budgets and capital expenditures, among other things.

Capt. Tom Partridge graduated in April from the Air Force's Squadron Officer School at the Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. According to the Air Force's press release, "Captain Partridge was selected for the special professional officer training in recognition of his demonstrated potential as a leader in the aerospace force." Tom is now stationed at Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina.

Pete Teal is completing his third year of orthopedic residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. From there he, Ann and their three children will move on to two years of military service. Bill Blanchard was vice chairman of this year's fund drive by the Mental Health Association of Essex County, New Jersey's most populous county. Bill lives in Harding Township with his wife, Mary, and two children, is secretary-treasurer of William Blanchard Co., a large construction firm based in Newark, and is also assistant secretary-treasurer of Blanchard Securities, Inc., of Newark. He is a director of the Mental Health Association and a member of its finance committee.

Steve and Lynn Wilson had a daughter, Karen Elizabeth, March 31 in Worcester, Mass., where Steve is "frantically attempting" to complete his doctoral thesis at Clark University. Dick and Joanne Target! had their fourth child and third girl, Nancy Jane, November 21. Dick is a claim representative in Bridgeport, Conn., for Aetna Casualty and Surety Co., and occasionally sees Jim Venman at Pullman, Comley, Bradley & Reeves, the company's defense counsel in the Bridgeport area. In January Dick was appointed to the zoning commission in Danbury. John and Judy Mansfield had their first, Linda, April 16 at Pensacola Naval Hospital.

Jack Bryan is a resident in orthopedic surgery at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville. Bob Keane is an English instructor at Hofstra College, Hempstead, Long Island.

Jack and Sally Bailey, Navy careerists, returned from a tour of duty in Belgium and are now in Mayport, Fla. Jack is the navigator and personnel officer of the "U.S.S. Farragut," a new guided missile frigate. Tony Kreulen is in Yokohama with American Foreign Insurance Association. Moe Kaufman is with Mines & Minerals Co.'s Alaska division in Anchorage. TuckCreamer is a Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith representative in La Jolla, Calif. Don't neglect, forget, belittle, downgrade or ignore the Alumni Fund. We made a good showing last year, so let's not slip back into our previous rut.
