Bob McMillan - 1923 owes Bob McMillan a tremendous vote of thanks for his handling of room reservations for the Dartmouth-Princeton game and an equal vote to Frank Doten for lining up the Friday night smoker and Saturday night banquet and program. Both of these men spent many hours arranging details, telephoning, and writing letters. Those in attendance were: Barbara and Chet Bixby, Dorothy and Bill Blake, Mary and Jack Booth, Olive and Ted Caswell, Elsie and Bill Catlin, Madeline and Fred Clark, Kip Couch, Betty and Fred Davis, Connie and Walter Dodge, Gladys and Frank Doten, Ruth and Jim Doyle, Peg and Ralph Duffy, Alice and Irish Flanigan, Viola and Walter Friend, Catherine and Walter Gates, Bea and Jub Home, Miriam and Sam Home, Dorothy and Bill Kimball, Susan and Ike Phillips, Leonora and Karl Klaren, Jim Landauer, Sol Levine, Elsa and Doug Manson, Elinor and Ivan Martin, Marjorie and Al Merritt, Natalie and Bob McMillan, Helen and Joe Millas, Babe Miner, John Moore, Marjorie and Paul Morgan, Marion and Pudge Neidlinger, Belinda and Al Piance, Alice and Joe Pollard, Marie and Dan Pope, Jeannettee and Ken Quencer, Catherine and John Read, Jean and Charlie Rice, Helen and Charlie Rivoire, Marion and Gus Ryan, Mary and Leon Sargent, Nancy and Joe Schiffenhaus, Marjorie Shapleigh, Peg and Lou Wilcox, Margaret and Roger Wilkinson, and Dear and Karl Williams.

Babe and Florence Miner report the annual Longmeadow September reunion to be the best ever in the long line of banquets commemorating '23's matriculation 45 years ago. This year the Thursday date was the exact anniversary of this important event. Those attending in addition to the host and hostess were Doug and Elsa Manson, recently established in their new home ir West Hartford; Irish and Alice Flanigan who stayed overnight with Florence and Babe; Fred and Bette Davis, Herb Behan, Bill Catlin, George Ferguson, Bill Gates, Jim Hennessy, Hull Maynard, Dan Pope, Gus Ryan, Bill Wallace, George Weston, and Sam Sammis. The Howard Alcorns had just returned from seven weeks in Europe and couldn't make the party. Len Truesdell, who is always on hand, had business that day in New York City and so did JohnMoore and Charlie Zimmerman. Your secretary was attending a church fashion show in Haverhill whose chairman was Ben's wife Betsy, with Barbara, Ben, and Little Barbara as models. Shortly after this reunion Florence Miner took off to Hawaii, with her sister, for a two-week visit to Aloha land.

Babe Miner came up with another excellent treasurer's report for '63-'64. Dues receipts totaled $2349.00. Stationery, printing, postage, etc. absorbed $199.61 and the MAGAZINE, $1,583.60. The Memorial Book Program cost $335.00 and $415.97 was stacked away for a rainy day when the cost of the Memorial Book Program will be greater.

Lou and Peg Wilcox are busy moving into their new home on Dogford Road, Etna. During the Alumni College session the '23 contingent found many excuses to drive out and watch the house being completed by the contractors before the deadline of August 31. Lou joined New Jersey Bell in 1925. After serving in various engineering posts he was appointed district maintenance supervisor of Monmouth County in 1934. He was promoted to district plant engineer in Plainfield in 1940. In the civic life of Westfield Lou is a past president of the Westfield Community Players.

T. T. Metzel was elected president of the Class Bequest Chairmen Association at the Class Officers meeting last May. Lou and his Alumni Fund committee attained an 88% objective when the final figure of $38,796.85 was chalked up. Through their efforts six mailed in contributions of $1,000.00 and up; five, $500.01 to $999.99; eighteen, $250.01 to $500.00; 37, $100.01 to $250.00, and 34, $100.00. The big weakness in the effort to attain our goal is the fact that 93 men contributed nothing in 1963 and 1964.

Dick Udall spent the summer in Europe. More about the trip later.

Frank Damon reports a change of address to 1058 Isabella Apt. 3, Coronado 91218, Calif. His previous address burned up with Frank in it. He didn't wake up for five days and was given up for lost but fooled the doctors. He is now O.K. except for his left arm which may need possibly three grafts. He leaves the hospital for rides — most always to the golf course where he is the treasurer of a large Coronado golf club.

Jim Landauer, president of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, mailed out a Message to Parents to some 825 families of the entering class of 1968. Jim was our speaker at the banquet in the Hanover Inn Tavern room and paid a wonderful tribute to President Hopkins.

Doug Manson recently associated himself with Wilson, Haight, and Welch, a Hartford advertising firm. On August 27 Charlie Rice was elected president of the Connecticut State Senior Golf Association. Charlie modestly says one's ability at the game is not a qualification. It is very apparent Charlie hasn't learned to say "no."

Harold Malmquist operates a commercial art studio in Cleveland, under the name of Malmquist and Wood, Inc. The Malmquists were driven to an apartment at 15615 Van Aken Boulevard last October by just having too much land, and too much house, after their sons grew up on their 3½ acres in Moreland Hills. Hal maintains that he wasn't driven out by crabgrass - "as long as it was green, I welcomed it, and mowed it" — but there just seemed to be no purpose there after the children moved. "I was looking out the apartment window last winter," he mused, "and there was all that snow coming down, and there was that poor apartment superintendent out shoveling it. And along the street, there came a big truck with a plow on it, clearing the road and not too far off, I could hear the Rapid grinding along." He sighed: "That's the life."
