On November 7 the Herald Tribune had "Salute to the Armed Forces" in recognition of Veterans Day. A quote from it is of particular import to 1913. "The late Brisker General Harry Semmes, who won three Distinguished Service Crosses in two World Wars, suspected it was a sense of sharing a tradition of bravery and sacrifice which each unit, each service, communicates to its members." And his way of life is indeed a challenge to our times!

Recently '13 broke into print. Carl For saith has just published an outstanding book "Pinkerton Academy 1817-1964." Carl has been a trustee of his alma mater since 1950 and in delving into its history has found many anecdotes and sidelights, all of which make for interesting reading - a book anyone can read and enjoy.

J. Loy Maloney is one of many '13ers fortunate enough to bask in Florida's sunshine. And more than that, too, for his father is with him, enjoying good health in his 101 years! Every good wish to the Maloneys for continuing good health.

"Harve" McClary reports anew on his recent trek in Europe and promises not to miss another reunion.

Ed Sides writes that the welcome mat is out in North Largo, Fla., when '13ers come that way.

Try to keep up with Towler! An enthusiastic comment on the Dartmouth-Columbia game - then off to Florida for a night or two, and a visit with his old friend, JoeBarnett. More news later!

Eddie Edwards manages to keep busy, between Mercedes, Texas, Old Saybrook, Conn., and Evanston, Ill. Who wouldn't? His son Stephen, who is now General Agent for the Massachusetts Mutual Life in their Chicago Agency, is going "like a house afire. Better executive and insurance man than his father ever was." That's high praise, indeed, from his father.

Howard Dutch Barends' daughter wrote Sill Towler and Rea Bronk recently that Dutch is hospitalized. A word addressed to The Perley Hospital, 2 Barton Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, would mean much to him.

And a note from Bob McCoy's law partner tells of his recent hospitalization. Every wish from '13ers for a quick recovery. Another opportunity for us to say "Hello."
