Winter carnival, crunchy snow, cloudy skies and everyone loves the cold so much they can't find time to write!

News is scarce but here is the little that exists. . .. The New Hampshire House of Representatives had its own floor fight for Speaker of the House between our WaltPeterson and "Zandy" Taft '49. Loyalty to the same alma mater does not transcend politics according to the verbiage issued in the campaign. Walt is accused of being a "yes man" to the President of the State Senate and in turn, refers to Zandy as inexperienced but a "good man." Walt served as House majority leader for two years and has been a party leader in Peterborough for many years. Although the November 3 Democratic landslide affected the New Hampshire Republicans as well as. the rest of the country, they still retain a majority in the House. A late news flash has come in indicating that the '47s continue their winning ways. Walt Peterson was elected Speaker of the House and Zandy Taft elected Majority Floor Leader. Congrats are extended to both.. ..

And speaking of our winning ways - Larry and Mrs. Coachman announced the birth of their first son, John Kendrick, on November 4. Although the Coachmans now live in Seattle, they resided in Hanover for many years on Dogford Road.

An announcement from close to home indicates that Bill Lynn has just been named Director of Business Policy Analysis on the Corporate Staff of International Business Machines Corporation. Bill joined IBM in 1954 in Boston and served in a number of sales and managerial posts, including Controller of the Company's Data Systems Di vision. Prior to being named to his present post, he was Controller on IBM's corporate staff. He received his B.A. degree in mathematics and an M.B.A. degree in 1950 from Tuck School. The Lynns and their five children live in Chappaqua, N. Y.

The High School principal of Chelmsford, Mass., has just received a lift from his heavy duties by the appointment of Richard D. Stevenson as administrative assistant. Dick got his master's degree from Boston University and is well on his way to a Ph.D. He taught at Exeter, N. H., Winthrop, and Swampscott and has been a teacher, counselor, and coach plus being the assistant principal at Swampscott High School, for the past four years.. . . Dick was a lieutenant in the Navy and has been active in many professiona! organizations including membership in the Massachusetts Secondary Principals' Association and the Essex County Principals' Association. He is a charter member of the Massachusetts Educational Data Processing Association.. . . Dick and his wife, Miriam, reside in Swampscott with their three children: Mark 15, Leslie Ann 12 and Darcey 6.

The chairman of our class - able Al Bildner - was just named Chairman of Dedications in a proposed new Suburban YM - YWHA to be built in the West Orange, N. Y., area. Obviously, some very imaginative PR man thought up the word "dedication" but it doesn't take long to realize that Al's job is to hustle up some dough and for this, one must be dedicated!

Believe it has been some time since we brought you up to date with the activities of our chairman - the best of which is the fact that Al has been appointed president of King's Super Markets in Irvington, N. J. Just a few of his minor side-lines: he is a trustee of the Jewish Community Council of Essex County and is active in the local United Jewish Appeal as well as being prominent in the campaigns for capital needs of the Jewish Community Foundation. Al is president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Essex and Morris Counties and past-president of the Association of Dartmouth Class Presidents. He belongs to the Mountain Ridge Country Club and is on the Board of Directors of the Supermarket Institute - (although when he finds time to play golf remains a mystery).

If you want to help Al's task in building this Suburban "Y," you should send a generous contribution along with your 1965 dues to Joe Kurey, whose address is listed at the top of the column. Depending upon the state of the class finances, Joe will pass along as much of the contributions as he and Stella can spare. . . . Whatever you do, send in your dues for 1965 if you haven't already done so!
