For openers this month, we would like to deal a big "thank you" to four of a kind — all aces: Ed Brown, Dick Houck, Bill Scherman, and Hank Werner, alias Operative X and Faithful Correspondent. We are indebted to them for their unstinting efforts in drumming up, contributing and otherwise soliciting material for this column from laggard correspondents.
Theirs has been performance above and beyond the call of duty, done while preoccupied with more important things—Ed, for example, while in the process of becoming a grandpappy for the first time (granddaughter Jennifer Hastings Adams arrived at Providence, R. I. February 9 — born to Betsy Brown Adams and Dickenson Adams); Dick while knee-deep in the big job of serving as Bequest Chairman for the Class of 1934; Hank while busy interviewing applicants for Dartmouth and keeping tabs on the literary efforts of the movie reviewer for "The Dartmouth" — his son, Peter. And then there's this fellow Scherman who goes all out by urging his legions of 1934 News letter readers to send stuff our way. Many thanks.
