A brief message from Vermont before the annual Class Officers Meeting in Hanover May 7-8. All of your class officers are slated to be present except Treasurer Tone. We shall miss him.

A letter from Robbie advises that his granddaughter Katie was married last June and is living in Westport, Conn. Katie's husband is a tree surgeon and landscape gardener. They have built a house and started a tree nursery.

Usually a four-day boat trip to Nassau and the Bahamas is recommended as a restful interlude. Nassau is a lovely island and its people and history interesting. The Websters recommend this trip anytime except on Easter vacation. There were 80 of our future leaders aboard. Oh Brother! "Ike"Cloyd Maynard was wise he made this trip a week earlier. Ike is now hopefully planning a trip for the Canadian Northwest next Summer.

A lovely letter from Velda Whittemore who is struggling to make the adjustment after a long and happy life with our classmate Whit. The Whittemores lived in the Far East and in many cities in the U. S. Whit finally ended his long career in banking by spending the last 15 years with the Import-Export Bank in Washington, D. C. Velda has wonderful memories to sustain her.

The Withams having spent the winter months visiting their five daughters and Marie's sister and two brothers who live all over the states from Massachusetts to California have recently returned to Burlington. Marie's attacks of sinus infection and shoulder bursitis has taxed her vitality to the extent that she will not come to Hanover for the weekend with Myron.

We were pleased to receive a letter from Mary (widow of Herbert McKennis) bringing news of the McKennis families. We all remember Herbert as one of the outstanding men of 1904 while on campus. Mary had planned to make our 60th but events prevented. There are two McKennis boys.

Dr. Herbert McKennis Jr. is a Professor of Pharmacology at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. McKennis has just been awarded a 2-5 year grant by the AMA. The sum for the first year being $18,228. Under the grant Dr. McKennis, who for many years has been engaged in tobacco research at M.C.V. and was one of the numerous experts consulted by the Surgeon Generals Commission on smoking and health, will produce synthetic radioactive nicotine for research. Dr. McKennis is married and has two sons and a daughter. Mary's other son Gregory who is in the insurance business in Syracuse under the name of McKennis and VanSant is married and has a son and daughter. Thank you for the good letter, Mary. May we hear from other families.

The end of the line came to a wonderful Dartmouth family when Mary (sister of Hayward Rolfe) died last year. Some memos of Hayward's college days have been received and duly entered in the '04 Memo Books.

Our off-year reunion is scheduled for June 11 and 12 in Middle Fairweather (each room has its own facilities). The room rates will be $3.50 per night per person. Your Secretary has application cards which he will be glad to send to anyone desiring same. These cards must be returned to the Bursar's Office not later than May 24. Get busy (boys and girls) and enjoy a good weekend of good fellowship. SEE YOU IN JUNE.
