Has your secretary finally achieved the ultimate - a scoop on the Lipp?! Here's my bid for lasting fame (with a large assist from Dr. Jim Dietrich whom I quote). "From a long list of applicants, Haverford College (all male) has appointed Debbie Lippman (Mrs. Richard W.) Assistant Professor of French, justifying anew its reputation as one of the really lush groves of Academe! She will take up her new assignment next fall, leaving the University of Pennsylvania where she has won a great reputation as an inspiring teacher. Electives in French are expected to reach a new high at Haverford. What a subject! What a teacher! Now combine them and bon appétit." No wonder our newsletter editor discharges his literary duties so proficiently — considering the calibre of the coaching he receives.

Another '42 who deports himself well in the literary field is Ad Winship. His article in February's issue concerning the competition the business community is experiencing in attracting graduates is both timely and enlightening. It is recommended reading.

The Boston Globe recently featured an article on the L. S. Starrett Co., of Athol, Mass., whose president is Doug Starrett, great-grandson of the founder of the 85-year-old firm. The company manufactures precision measuring instruments for industry and individuals. Last year the company earned $1.2 million on a volume of $20 million and appears headed for even better things this year. The Starrett stock rose over 50 percent in less than a week on the New York Stock Exchange in March. The company employs 1,200 in Athol and has plants in Scotland and Brazil as well as Cleveland, Ohio, and a Canadian subsidiary. Doug spent three years at the college, then flew B-17's from England before settling in Athol. He and Janet have three children.

Dr. Chuck Herberger has been named a full professor of English at Nasson College, Springvale, Me. Chuck has been at Nasson since 1958 where he is chairman of the college admissions committee.

Word has been received that Peter Hoes died unexpectedly at his home in San Anselmo, Calif., on March 12. An obituary will appear in this or a subsequent issue.

This is the time of year when the hierarchy of the Class gathers on the Hanover Plain to formulate the strategy to be followed for the following months as we head into the stretch toward our 25th Anniversary activities. Due to other commitments, the class secretary will not be in attendance. He will miss the pleasures of the many exciting and invigorating experiences of Class Officers' weekend, however, including the hospitality of the College and our representatives on campus, the Winships.

The Class extends its deepest sympathy to Alex Fanelli and his wife on the loss of their son. Christopher Dean Fanelli, a freshman at American University, died of a heart attack at his home in Arlington, Virginia on April 16.

The concluding paragraphs to this column are supplied by guest author Ad Winship who has more or less volunteered to perform the service of informing us of the very latest decisions made by the Executive Committee at its May meeting in Hanover. Sincere thanks, Ad.

Several of your class officers joined over 200 fellow officers from other classes at the annual Hanover meeting in early May. Chairman Bob Kirk, Class Agent WarrenKreter, Treasurer Guy Swenson and your other newsman Dick Lippman all attended workshop sessions with their counterparts. Reunion Chairman Dex Richards was briefly in attendance for the purpose of making sure that 1940 and 1941 are not planning anything better than 1942 is for its 25th reunion. One of the highlights of the weekend meeting, at least from our standpoint, was the award tended Dick Lippman as Dartmouth's Newsletter Editor of the Year.

This is the final column for the fiscal year ending June 30. Have a pleasant, active and safe summer. Make it an informative one, also, by providing the writer with material for next fall's issues.
