Hooray and all that to the wonderful wives who send those most appreciated notes about the '57 families. This month's thanks to the spouse go to Rickie who very graciously forwarded news about DaveClements and his expanding family. In a nutshell, the Clements will be leaving Chicago (Wilmette) in June - destination, Frankfurt, Germany. Dave is a senior accountant with Arthur Anderson & Co. which is the party responsible for the move to Frankfurt. Rickie has extended an invitation to any '57 passing through the Frankfurt area to contact "Clem" at the Arthur Anderson office — the invitation is for a light dinner of sauerbraten, potato pancakes, and a few liters of hearty ale (my ad lib, Rickie). Domestically speaking, Clem and Rickie's family includes daughter Laurissa (1½) and the dog George. Have a ball in Germany!
News from Connecticut - Dune Barnes and spouse Anne have announced the arrival of #1 offspring, a daughter named Lesley. According to Dave, Lesley was born on March 31, "20 hours before the opening of trout season." Too bad you had to pass up opening day, Dune. Anne and Dune are still residing in Dobbs Ferry, N. Y.; however, they hope to be settled someplace in Connecticut by the end of the summer. Dune is a member of Sports Illustrated's writing staff where his beat is the outdoors - hunting, fishing, camping, skin diving, etc. Incidentally, I'm alerting you Sports Illustrated readers to watch for Dune's story on backpacking. The story was developed in California Redwood country.
Speaking of publications, I bring to your attention the Price-Waterhouse Review. JackSpring recently contributed to this publication an article entitled "Computerization of Financial Forecasting." I understand that Jack's report is most informative and interesting especially for all of you fledgling real estate developers.
Travelers Insurance Company recently announced the appointment of Bob Googins to associate underwriter in the casualty-fire underwriting department. Bob has been associated with Travelers since 1963.
Two members of the bachelor contingent will soon be resigning from the group. Mike King is engaged to Rebecca Draper of Dover, Mass. Rebecca is a graduate of Skidmore College. On the West Coast, Sonja Carlson and Bill Davidow announced their wedding plans in March. Sonja, a graduate of New London's one and only Colby Jr., is associated with the Stanford-Palo Alto Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. Champagne for the prospective newlyweds should be flowing this month.
On the banking front, two of our illustrious members are moving ahead. JayTrepp has been appointed to the position of assistant treasurer at the State Street Bank and Trust Co. in Boston. Jay joined State Street in 1964 and at that time assumed responsibilities in the Comptrollers Division. Another banker, Dick Murray, has been elected an assistant cashier at the Canal National Bank in Portland, Me. Dick has been associated with the bank since 1959. His prime responsibility has been and will continue to be the management of the data processing division.
Now that the long, hot summer is upon us, I have a request for all of the shy '57 spouses who didn't write about their husbands, children, dogs, etc. Drop a note, call, cable, wire — anything but please let's hear from you - all the news, that is. Do not proscrastinate. In exchange for every word that you write I may consider sending you Green Stamps. As for the bachelors who haven't reported in for a couple of years, enlist your secretary for half an hour to type up news about yourself.
Here's hoping that you all have a productive and enjoyable summer.
