When you read this column our annual Pops concert night will have taken place because the date is May 11 at Symphony Hall in Boston. We hope the attendance will be good because this is the one way we raise money for our scholarship fund.
On Saturday afternoon, April 24 we held a holding meeting for the boys accepted into the class of 1969. Around 40 boys and some of their parents showed up at Hotel 128 in Needham. Dean Scott Palmer '59 came down with a fine looking senior named Robert Blake '65. After President Esmond R. Crowley '41 made a few remarks he had the new members of the 1969 class introduce themselves and name the school from which they came. Then he introduced some of the officers of our Boston club who were present and then Bob Blake gave an excellent talk about conditions at Dartmouth. He was so complete that none of the boys had to ask any questions. Then, Dean Palmer had some words of advice to these new members of the Dartmouth family. Among the alumni present were Es Crowley '41, Fred Stockwell '43, Bob O'Brien '41, Ralph Fifield '46, Dick Barnard '30, Bill Gundy '6O, Dana Hennigar '55, Joe Slotnick '58, Gary Spiess '62. Jack Benson '31 Don Hobbs '04, John Handrahan '37, Bill Saunders '44, and several others.
Your secretary accepted an invitation to attend the Southeastern Massachusetts Dartmouth Club annual meeting in Taunton on April 20. We had a fine time in a nice, informal atmosphere and Dean Jay Whitehair who assists Dean Thaddeus Seymour was the featured speaker.
The Thursday luncheons are still held at 12:30 at the Revere room of the Parker House. We should all attend as often as possible.
