We sadly advise our classmates that William B. Wright passed away on June 27, 1966, at his Marys River Ranch at Deeth, Nev., at the age of 70. He apparently had a heart attack while working on his ranch. He was a staunch friend of Dartmouth, an outstanding citizen of Nevada, and a loyal friend to many of his classmates. See "In Memoriam" column of this or a later issue.

The Class is very proud of the achievement of Tom Bryant and his Class Agents' team. Their Green Derby objective was $28,780.00. The last report shows that they received $29,530.00, or 102.6 percent of their objective. This certainly is an outstanding achievement, and once again we want to thank this group of hard working classmates for establishing such an enviable record.

Dave Skinner, who lives at Rye, N. Y., wrote us a nice letter praising Tom Bryant and his team for impressing upon our Class the necessity of supporting the Dartmouth Alumni Fund. He hopes to be back at our Fiftieth. He was in the hospital during our Forty-fifth.

"Hal Day," Rev. Harold C. Day, 727 Jefferson Drive, Pittsburgh, Pa., recently gave an inspiring sermon entitled: "Eminent Domain —Ex Cathedra." For you who may have forgotten, Hal became an ordained priest at the age of 65. He is now 71. I am sure that if you are interested, he has copies of this sermon which he would send you upon request. It is so outstanding that we urge you to request a copy.

Harvey Hood has recently relinquished the executive responsibilities of H. P. Hood & Sons. He is still Chairman of the Board. We hope Harvey and Barbara will now find time to do many of the things they have wanted to do but couldn't because of the very time-consuming attention that the presidency of this large company demanded. Incidentally, Harvey's son Charlie has just been elected treasurer of the Company.

As of August 1 I turned over my communications consulting business to a young man who plans to carry on in my place. So from now on all mail should be addressed to me at 137 Annawan Road, Waban, Mass., and no more typed replies. You will have to decipher my hen scratches as best you can.

We recently received a note from Madeleine Scully, telling of a recent visit by Jackand Marian Bingham. Their visit was very cheering to both Don and Madeleine. Any classmates who find themselves going anywhere near Rockport, Me., should plan to drop in to see the Scullys. It does a lot for Don's morale, now that he is confined to the house. Drop him a note anyway.

We have just received a thank you note from Dick Cooley for his birthday card. Presently he is at Eagle Mt. House in Jackson, N. H. He writes: "This is our 25th year up here and we still like it, and have many friends who also come back each August. Thought I was going to shoot my age on my birthday, but missed it by two strokes. May make it before I leave. Par is 64, so it should not be too difficult. I hope the football team will do as well this year as last. Edith joins me in sending best wishes."

We have seen a letter sent to Tom Bryant from Paris, France, which states that Horton Kennedy is seriously ill at the Hospital Foch in Suresne (S and O). [Editor's Note: Word of the death of Mr. Kennedy on August 22 has been received by the College.]

We have just received a note from RaySmith from Oak Hill, Dublin, N. H„ thanking us for the birthday card which JackBingham has recently sent. We quote: "Bonnie and I have been in Hanover twice recently; once for Wet Down and again when we were invited to come for one of the Dartmouth Horizons programs. Both trips were most interesting. The first time I took in part of the Dartmouth-Middlebury baseball game and saw a really fine Green team in action. The Dartmouth Horizons program made me realize how little I knew about the College and how long it has been since I graduated, and how far Dartmouth has come over these years.

"I made two brief trips this last winter to Europe and the Middle East, and may have to return to Egypt in September for several months. This may well mean missing all the football games in a season which should be a great success."

Stump Barr reports that he is having numerous requests for reservations for the luncheon to be held on September 24 before the University of Massachusetts football game at Hanover. We know of four couples who are going to stay at the Chieftain Motel, which will be fun for all concerned. Unfortunately the class luncheon will have come and gone before this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is published.

We have not had many requests as yet for reservations for the luncheon before the Princeton-Dartmouth game, which is to be held on October 8 at Hanover. As you remember the College is reserving tables for all of the classes at the Leverone Field House for those who wish to eat together at a luncheon to be held there before the game. If you have forgotten to let me know, please do so by the first of October so I can advise the College of the number of '18ers who wish to attend this luncheon.

To date we have received requests for reservations at Brae Burn or the Holiday Inn Motel, for the Harvard-Dartmouth Game weekend, October 21-22, from the Phil Boyntons, Tom Bryants, Taylor Cooks, Ernie Earleys, Ed Felts, Curt Glovers, Louis Huntoons, Harold Johnstons, Stan Joneses, Steve Mahoneys, Syl Moreys, Jack Slabaughs, George Stoddards, and A. Russell Trout. If you have not already done so, and plan to be with us, please advise promptly as soon as you read this, as time will be getting short. As for the cocktail party and dinner dance at Brae Burn, you can let us know up to the last day, as we are sure that we can fit you in.

Please send me some class news. The well is running dry. Have a good fall and winter.
