A more extended notice of the death of John Porter appears elsewhere, but it is worth noting that of the original eleven members of his delegation in Phi Kappa Psi fraternity only two are now left. They are Herman de Anguerra and Charles H.Dudley.

Of John, one who knew him well in college writes: "John lived in Wentworth Hall for most of his undergraduate life, and thus was well known to me, a four-year resident. He was very quiet, almost taciturn, and when he spoke, there were few extra words. He was of a very practical nature, not easy to convince, and slow to make a decision, yet he was a loyal supporter of the College." This is confirmed by our Head Agent, who writes of him: "Porter was not well known to the majority of his classmates, yet his was the solid stuff that built the Old Dartmouth, and by faithful contributions to the Alumni Fund, he helped to carry it to its present greatness."

Herm Farwell writes that he is back on the job, and that if all of us haven't heard from him yet, we will before long. "Verbum Sat Sapienti Est."
