OCTOBER 1967 ALBERT E. SMITH, EDWARD H. KENERSON

Another of our authors, this time a poet, Leigh Kimball, has been good enough to send me a delightful printing of poems and songs written by his father and by himself. I would say that father and son were cut of the same fine cloth.

Ned Kenerson has sent me copy of his just published book, "Inbred Yankees," the story of the Kenerson and Ryder families and their New England ancestors. In his preface he tells of beginning his search for his New England ancestors some forty years ago. His book might well have been subtitled "A History of Early New England."

A letter from Gink Ford gives good news of both Mrs. Ford and himself and hopes to see us next June at our Reunion. Herb Follett also writes from California of his hope to be there. Ernest Brown has been at his Kiltonkabin, Grafton, N. H., for the summer - in good health and high spirits.

Mrs. Henry G. Safford in her letter with gift to the Alumni Fund sent word of the appointment of Henry G. Safford (D. 1940) to the newly created position of General Sales Manager at Houston Lighting and Power Company. She also sent announcement of engagement of her granddaughter, Miss Marion Safford Wallace, to Benjamin Davis William Wilcox. A summer wedding was planned. (My deepest regrets that I failed to get these items in the June notes.)

Lewis Haney is busily at work setting up preparations for our 1968 Reunion. Please give him every help you can.

I hope that the request to our widows in the August News Letter with regard to their wishes as to receiving the ALUMNI MAGAZINE this coming year will elicit prompt replies. It will be a great help to the magazine staff.
