Here we go into that month highlighted by the approach of Turkey Day. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

Eben Clough, attending the annual gathering of the 101 st U. S. (Useless) Engineers up at Old Orchard, Me., with Norvie Milmore, reminisces about the original gang who left these shores back in 1917 such as: Russ Chase, Pete Cannon, Augie Atwood, Freddie Drew, Al Livingston, Tommy Tomfohrde, Johnny Pendleton, Fred Campbell '14, and Eben and Norvie. Out of 73 still living, 42 showed up at this year's reunion.

Win Snow '14 dropped in on the Cloughs at Ipswich for a short Hello and it ended up in a couple hours of reminiscing. Win brought his son with him and son, who has a sailboat down at the yacht club, signed up Eben for a jaunt out on the briny deep, causing Eben to "git his old water wings vulcanized" for said jaunt. (Eben asks if I remember Win. - Who taught me how to plow through the line back in those halcyon days?)

A dinner get-together of the Chan Fosters and the Cloughs at the Glover Inn, Swampscott, revealed that Dot Foster won some bridge prizes at the Mt. Washington Hotel and was planning to play in a tournament in Montreal and a visit to Expo 67 up there. The Fosters had been entertaining their grandchildren from down in Kentucky. (Eben, with the prize money he won at his sales conference, bought a pair of binoculars •—to properly scan the passing bikinis!)

Kike Richardson, who spent a short spell in N. E. Baptist Hospital for some repair work, was soon up and around and in- veigled Eben into a jaunt with him up to Nash Lake for some good fishing an an- nual affair they never miss. While he was laid up, Kike's office was moved lock, stock and barrel across State Street in Boston — smart maneuvering on Kike's part, I would say! And somewhere along the line, Eben took wife Margy and Kike's wife Pearl shopping in Boston and landed them both home again safe and sound. Kike's new office address is #84 State Street, fourth floor, in Boston.

There's nothing like a liberal education! The publishers of one of Winston Churchill's books sent back his original MSS. with the comment: "Too many dangling prepositions." His reply: "Your criticism is utterly ridiculous — up with which I shall never put!"

The George Simpsons stopped off in Ipswich for a Saturday night fling before heading down to Cape Cod for the summer. George is labeled "an excellent cook"! With barber shop prices what they are, the long-haired guys are not so dumb! And the ear coverage shuts out adverse criticism!

Amos Blandin 'lB came up with an interesting pre-season prediction: "We'll have a good football team if we can get by the first two games without getting killed." Inasmuch as this is being written, by force of necessity, before said games, it will be interesting to see how good a prognosticator he was.

The Carl Gishes had quite a thrill back in August when they had a good 'phone visit with son Mike out in Vietnam. Mike is with the U.S.M.C.R. as a combat artist and Carl and Helen are withholding further plans until his return.

Otis and Fanny Hovey were scheduled for a trip through Scandinavia, Scotland, and Ireland early in September. We hope it fulfilled expectations.

Dick Clarke phoned he was back in circulation again with some restrictions but can have all the beer he wants and a couple real drinks a day. Fair enough!

We are much pleased that Ruth Winship has teamed up with Dr. Albert M. Crance in holy matrimony. Dr. Crance expects to retire in a year or so and they plan to make their home in Hanover from then on. An interesting slant on this union is that Dr. Crance is the grandfather of four of Ruth's Crance grandchildren and some of the quips going around amongst the family are priceless. Even Ruth murmers something about "it's later than you think"! We extend our sincere congratulations to the bride and groom!

Rumors from Boston are that the Harvard Club there has invited the Ivy League to share their new accommodations at 22 Battery March Street, Boston operated by Schraffts and managed by Ollie Holmes *29. I believe the weekly Dartmouth lunch- eon day has been switched to Thursdays at 12:30.

Cape Cod 'lsers had some good get-to- gethers during the summer and among the visitors were the Potters, Simpsons, Wanamakers, and Chamberlains. Russ Rice reports a good time was had by all.

A photo clipping from the Boston Herald back in September shows the Hal Claflins inspecting a ship's steering apparatus during a visit aboard ship. Sid Crawford says that's probably the reason that edition of the Her- ald was sold out and wonders whv Hal's attention is riveted to the steering wheel with such a pretty hostess standing by. No comment!

Some alert 'lser sends in this one: "Miniskirts are making men more polite. Have you ever seen a man get on a bus ahead of one?"

This scribe spent the Labor Day weekend in Chicago and was shown some of the wondrous sights of that famed city. Amongst other jaunts, we inched our way by motor through "Alley Cat Row" better known as Wells Street and, if there's a more illuminating combination of Art and "hippy" activity, I have yet to see it even in New York. A "liberal" arts education, if there ever was one!

Cards from Joe Comstock and Walt Kennedy, amongst others, indicate that birthday greetings are still pleasant to get. '15ers now number 169.

A late bulletin from Boston reveals a getacquainted gathering at the new location of the lunch club there in mid-September with the following on hand to cement previous ties: Gerry Shaw from Milton, Dale Barker from Arlington, Nut Norwood and Eben Clough from Ipswich, Geo. Simpkins from Wes'on and Phil Evans '16. Further weekly luncheons should bring larger groups.

Sid Bull, recovering from heart surgery, is up and around and planning to go to Florida again this year. Leon Aronowitz, up in Albany, was looking forward to seeing some of us at one of the games this fall. Hope he did. Bob Griffin kindly offered us transportation to the September Get-together in Hanover. Having made other arrangements, we solicited and received a rain check.

Don Bridge reports he's now retired and moved from Norfolk, Neb., to the West Coast address: 1000 North Point, The Fontana Hast Apt. #lOO2, San Francisco, Calif. 94109.

With which, this scribe wishes to express due appreciation to the Rotary Scandal Sheet of Graham, Texas-—to which we have been a longtime subscriber for occasional quips we have quoted therefrom and which was recently recognized by reference thereto in their publication.
