This column is written as many of us are preparing to get back to Hanover for the Holy Cross game and the informal class gettogether at Bob Kimball's. Among other matters, there will be a meeting of the class executive committee on Saturday morning; and I will plan to keep you posted on any decisions regarding future class activities. Frank Ettari plans a further meeting of the committee in New York on a Saturday just prior to the opening of the next Alumni Fund campaign. He hopes that the committee members will try to keep this in mind in pre-planning their mid-winter vacations.

You have all received Doug Leigh's excellent newsletter which gave you a further picture of the activities at the 20th reunion. He has given me a preliminary report from Jack Whitman about the great performance of the class in this year's Alumni Fund drive. He will give you the details on the results in his next newsletter and, for the moment, I would only like to report that we ranked 11th in a group of 59 participating classes. It was by far our most productive and successful showing, and Tom Adams and his associates and the class officers all deserve a real vote of thanks for a job well done.

Betty and Rick Shambroom have announced the arrival of their son Jonathan in August. I am sure that this makes Rick the oldest new father in the class, an honor which many of us would not like to take away from him.

Dave Weld reports that he has started some preliminary planning for the 25th reunion. I am sure that he would be glad to hear from any of you with suggestions for making this a truly memorable occasion. He mentioned running into Bill Riley and JackUnderhill during a recent trip to Boston. He reports they both look fit and ready to go.

Jim Morse was admitted as a general partner in the New York Stock Exchange firm of White Weld and Company earlier this month. He has been with the firm since 1956 and, as an investment analyst, he would be a good man to know in these interesting but difficult times in the market place. Congratulations, Jim, and let us know if you have any suggestions for investing the class treasury.

From Philadelphia comes the news that the Reverend Jon J. O'Brien has been appointed to the faculty of St. Joseph's College. After graduation, Father O'Brien graduated from Yale Law School and then began his theological studies at Woodstock College.

Our esteemed treasurer, Don Furber, was recently elected an assistant vice president of the Old Colony Trust Company in Boston. I am sure his job with us was primarily responsible for this well-deserved recognition.

This is all the available news at this time. I am sure there will be much more to report after seeing many of you at the Holy Cross and Yale games.
