The big announcement on Wall Street last month was the formation of Computer Property Corporation. Chairman of the Board of this new company is Fred Carleton and Bob Callender is the President. Private placement of the stock and subordinated notes was arranged by Lombard, Vitalis & Paganucci, Inc. which keeps things in the '53 family. The company will specialize in computer sales, programming, and leasing. The big news in Shelton, Conn., is that Frank Casalveri, Chairman of the Board of Education, will not be a candidate for reelection this November. After serving on the board for three years, Frank wants to devote his time to other projects.
I'm still catching up on the summer's accumulation of news so some of the following items are a little old.
Bill Burns has moved to the Manchester area after being appointed principal of Manchester Central High School. Bill had been principal of Derby Academy. Walston & Company, Inc., the investment firm, has opened a new office in Bridgeport, Conn. William "Bruce" Taylor will be located in the new office as an account executive. TedSpiegel has been named as a trustee of Adrian (Michigan) College. Ted has been a member of the college's Financial Development Council since its inception.
A daughter, Nellie Jane, was born at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital last June 7 to Mr. and Mrs. John Springer. United Artists Corp. promoted Dave Picker to executive vice president. He had been first vice president of the film company. MikeDuffy, a plastic surgery resident at the Army's Walter Reed General Hospital, has been promoted to lieutenant colonel. Mike has been in the Army since 1958. He and his wife, Carol, live in Washington, D. C., with their four children.
Herb Solow was appointed vice president of programs for Paramount Television Productions, Inc. Herb went to Paramount from Desilu Productions where he held the same position. Herb is enjoying the good life of sunny Southern California. Jamesbury Corporation has appointed Ted Hibson to its planning and administrative staff as a senior systems analyst. Prior to joining Jamesbury, Ted was with Wyman Gordon, Bostitch Company, and General Electric, jack Morris was a guest speaker at a public relations course given by the American Management Association. Jack is assistant public relations director of Corn Products Company.
Frank Lee has been appointed to the position of European director of the newly formed International Division of the UTD Corporation. Headquarters for the operation will be in Frankfurt, Germany. Frank just completed studies for his master's degree in business administration at American University. He has had nine years of experience in Germany prior to returning to America two years ago to resume his education.
Burroughs Clearing House, the banking magazine, featured an article on Tony Frank, president of State Mutual Savings and Loan Association. Tony also recently addressed the New York Security Analysts on the Savings and Loan Industry.
