I'm afraid there isn't a whole lot to say this month. Each time I've gone on the road, I've hoped that there would be some news waiting upon my return, but only a couple of items have come through. How about taking your fingers out of the dike!
Wayne French has been elected an assistant treasurer of the Metropolitan Banking Department, Commodities Group, of the Bankers Trust Company in New York. Wayne joined the company in 1963 after serving in the Navy as a lieutenant. He, wife Joan and son Doug live in Verona, N. J. Good going, Frenchie. and I hope I'll bump into you on the parkway again on the way to the Princeton game.
Tom Gessner is the executive vice president of the Al Johnson Construction Company out in Minneapolis. I had my first visit to that fair city just a few weeks ago. Great town! Jim Goldman is working in the Graphic Arts Division of Eastman Kodak advising professional, commercial, and industrial clients. Does that include Hugh Hefner? Gerry Silverberg is at the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as a Fellow in neurology. What's better for nervous tension, Gerry? Pot or aspirin?
Dick Hoehn finally jumped the net. He married Eleanor Gladding up in Bristol, Vt., on September 30. After serving in the Marines (he is now a captain in the Reserve), Dick went to Harvard Law School and is currently a law clerk for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Pat Burns is about to take the big step. He's engaged to Barbara Van Riper of Ridgewood, N. J. The wedding should take place some time this month. After his years at Harvard Law School and Syracuse University School of Public Administration, Pat served in Basutoland, Africa, as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Cooperatives and is now with a law firm in New York City. And finally, Bill Ardiff of Danvers, Mass., will head the professional division of the Danvers United Fund Drive for the second year in a row.
Rob Brown, with Station WCCO in Minneapolis since 1962 as Assistant Director of Program Promotion, has become Director of Program Promotion. Now I'm sorry that the only thing I tuned in while out that way was the World Series. If Rob has anything to do with the programs, as well as their promotion, I imagine they'll be good ones. WDCR ran well with Rob aboard covering the news, special events and public issues departments, so WCCO should provide some good listening. Too many stations these days seem to concentrate on noise alone.
That cleans me out for this month. If any of you have recent scuttlebutt from buddies who ran into you at football games this fall, write it on the back of your tickets or on a napkin or something and send it along. Once again, let's hope no news means good news for all of you.
