Morgan Stanley & Co., the investment banker, announced the proposed admission of Fred Whittemore as a general partner. Fred, who also serves as our Class President, joined Morgan Stanley in 1958.
Tiger Films, Inc. has concluded an agreement with Warner Brothers whereby the latter will distribute "The Fastest Automobile in the World," Tiger's latest short subject. The one reel color short depicts the successful assault by Goldenrod and the Summers Brothers on Sir Donald Campbell's world automobile speed record. The film was written and directed by Maurice Schonfeld.
Mrs. William J. McCrory of Dayton, Ohio, has announced the engagement of her daughter, Sally Dolores, to Jack Eichelberger. Jack is a graduate of Boston University Law School.
Norm Carpenter has been appointed Deputy Attorney General for Minnesota. Norm has been active in politics for several years and now has an opportunity for public service as well as the personal challenge. He'll have a staff of some twenty lawyers and primary responsibility for the legal services of the highway department. Norm also hopes to generally contribute his services to the new Republican administration. At the present time he does not envision a permanent career in public life and expects to eventually return to private practice.
My old roommate Phil Fast has moved from Chicago to New York City. He has been promoted by Smith Barney & Co. and will work in their pension fund department.
Rudi Haerle has left his teaching position at Middlebury College and joined the Center for Urban Education of New York City as a Senior Research Sociologist. He is currently working as project director on a project which advises communities as they desegregate their public school systems. They are able to do follow-up research on the plan and Rudi says the work is stimulating. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago in 1965. He has five daughters aged 4 to 11 and they are already good skiers. Rudi and his wife have a small camp in Vermont where they go skiing periodically.
Phil Metzidakis is presently on sabbatical leave from Mills College in California. He is spending the year in and around the Yale library finishing a book. At Mills he is an Associate Professor of Spanish and Chairman of the Department of Foreign Languages. His first book was published last May by Prentice-Hall. All of his publications have been written in either Greek or Spanish. Phil says it's good to be back in the crowded East.
Whoever thought of the phrase "no news is good news" obviously wasn't thinking about Class Secretaries when he said this. While we're not quite to the point of "no news," we are rapidly approaching it. Any help you can give to help this poor old struggling column alive will be greatly appreciated by at least one person, me! I know there is a lot going on in our Class, my only problem is finding out about it. Do you know about any job changes, promotions, births marriages, civic activities, etc. in our Class? If so, won't you please drop me a line.
