Lately most of the cards seem to be coming from the west coast. Dick Wakefield is a Group Supervisor with Boeing Commercial Aircraft Division and he lives in Mercer Island, Wash. His son, Jay, is in his second year at the University of Washington Medical School, and daughter, Beverly, is in her second year at the same University. Walt Kadlec writes that Newport Beach, Calif., is a wonderful place to live and having been there, I can readily concur. Dr. John Hardham is a practicing physician in Paso Robles, Calif. Both of his daughters have graduated from Mills College in San Francisco and his son, John, is a freshman at the University of the Pacific. Sid andAlyce Barr are still enjoying Los Angeles, but their children returned to the East for their schooling. Jim Barr graduated from Tufts and is now in Columbia Law School. Bonnie Barr graduated from Simmons and her younger sister, Deborah, is in her junior year at the same school.

By the time you read this we will be into another Alumni Fund Campaign. PaulCleaveland has lined up all his agents and you will be hearing from them. In the New York area Art Levin, between briefs and court cases, will be contacting the Westchester residents and Dink Gidney will be working on the Manhattanites. Don't wait until the last minute to send your check to Hanover.

Although we mentioned that Chet Young was running for election to the Massachusetts legislature last November, we haven't reported that he was elected Republican representative from Scituate. Chet resigned his position as principal of the Quincy Central Junior High on December 30 after 10 years of service in that capacity. His constituents can address Chet, care of the House of Representatives, State House, Boston. His son, Geoffrey, is a sophomore at Dartmouth and Catherine is a junior at Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Conn. Jonathan and Sarah attend public school in Scituate.

The early date for Easter this year makes spring seem more reluctant than ever to take hold in New England. This is the month of decision for our high school senior sons and daughters - a month of joy or disappointment when the acceptances or rejections arrive. Whatever the choice, next September will bring a new career. It will also mean a new challenge to Wendell Harding, present Dean of Faculty of Vermont College in Montpelier. His new assignment is to Dean of Academic Counseling in which he will guide the ever increasing number of Vermont College graduates who are transferring to four year institutions. Wendell and Dorothy Harding's sons have both graduated from the University of Vermont in Burlington. Jay is still there working for IBM and studying for his M.A. in Industrial Management. Larrie majored in psychology and is employed by the Vermont Social Welfare Department, Child Welfare Division. Their daughter, Wendy, is a senior at Montpelier High.

Although Dr. Bob Ingersoll now resides in Hollywood, Fla., his daughter, Roberta, a Vermont College graduate, lives in Barre, Vt., where she is a medical technician in the Barre Hospital. His son, Peter, is at Broward Junior College in Florida. The Ingersolls have a retreat home at Tarpon Basin, Key Largo, called Tiki.

On Feb. 25 Susan, daughter of Dr. Frankand Harriet Sornberger was married in Hampton, Conn., to Dr. Herbert Adams of Wellesley Hills, Mass. Susan has been attending Boston University. Dr. Adams is an assistant resident surgeon at the Children's Hospital in Boston, where his father, also Dr. Herbert Adams, is director of the Lahey Clinic Foundation. Another February wedding took place in Tucson, Ariz., when Susan McInnis, daughter of Phil and LeslieMcInnis, married Dennis Whitlow of Pocatello, Idaho. Susan attended Colby Jr. College and her husband is a graduate of Columbia University and the Harvard Medical School.

For the past ten years Earl Copp has been employed at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg. On January 17 he stepped into a new assignment as staff assistant to the newly elected Governor Raymond Shafer. In Earl's words he "collects and distributes countless legal opinions and memoranda about bills introduced or moving in the House and Senate; answers bushels of letters; and does some speechwriting." During the last few months of Governor Scranton's administration, Earl wrote almost all of the Governor's major speeches. Dick Brister has Harrisburg for his business address where he is employed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Dick and his wife, Catherine, reside in nearby Abington. Their daughter, Barbara, is a freshman at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.

The Junior Year Abroad plan offers great opportunities for college students these days. Holly Johnson, daughter of Spence andJesse Johnson, is spending this year at the University of Leeds, England, and will return to her studies at Wittenburg University, Springfield, Ohio, in the fall. Spence is actively engaged in the operation of his own business, Spencer Products, in Bloomingdale, N. J.

The information cards for the Class Directory have turned up some interesting academic pursuits by sons and daughters. Chuck Yenrick is with ACF Industries in St. Charles, Mo., and his daughter, Betty, a graduate of Pomona College in California, is still there working on her doctorate at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Bill and Mary Spring's daughter, Mignonne, is married to Peter Wachamer who is taking his doctorate in analytical philosophy at the University of Chicago. Bill is with the Travelers Insurance Co. in Yonkers, N. Y.

I hope the ski buffs saw Frank Kappler's article in the March 17 issue of Life on the Grand Tetons in Wyoming and particularly the superb skiing at the lackson Hole Ski_ Area. Frank went on location for this assignment and didn't miss the opportunity to ski test the slopes which drop 4,125 feet and vary in length from three to seven miles. The article is just another way for Frank to proclaim a mountain is a work of art.
