I have just received a letter from Stanwood Cobb telling the sad news of the death unexpectedly and peacefully of his wife, Nayan. Stanwood enclosed a poem he had composed to his long-time companion. I am sure you all join me in heartfelt sympathy for Stanwood in his grievous loss.
Ned Kenerson is still playing the "par three" golf course at Green Valley and on the side keeping up with his successful Bequest Chairman job.
When these notes reach you in May the Alumni Fund campaign will be half way toward its goal. I hope to be able to get you some real good news of progress by then.
Now there is something else for us to get busy thinking about. The College Secretary's Office has already written me re a special meeting at the Class Officers Weekend, May 12 in Hanover, to discuss plans for Class Reunions which will be held in June of 1968. As you all remember our 65th and last official reunion comes up on that date. I am hoping to have an associate chairman to share the work but plan to attend the May meeting in any event.
I am glad Hanover is starting this early in its planning. In 1963 we invited our widows and family friends to join us and next year we will equally welcome and urge them to attend.
Our group has reached the point where it is tough to make hard and fast commitents for a time so far in advance but certainly it is all right even now to start thinking about this last round up.
Each of you is urgently invited to volunteer your services as a member of the 1968 Reunion Committee. I will be glad to appoint you as chairman of that committee. First come, first appointed, so please write me soon. Personally I am not sure that I would want to make a definite decision for something over a year ahead but it would surely seem all right even now for you or for me to say we hope and will plan to be at the reunion and how many probably will be in our party.
Anyway please start thinking it over.
