Maybe you've seen the TV commercial one of the beer companies has been running, featuring a bunch of fat, balding, incompetent louts always running out of beer and, presumably, smarts. These human meatballs, obviously over the hill in all respects, are prominently identified as '53s. This is the kind of libel that deserves rebuttal; convincing evidence appears below.

Jack Morris, formerly manager of public relations for Corn Products Company, has become a partner in Rubenstein, Wolfson & Company, a public relations counseling firm headquartered in New York. Jack also devotes some time to a public advisory committee for the National Urban League. He and his wife Lucille have formed their own suburban league at 56 Mulberry Lane in New Rochelle with memberships held by Tom, Hans, Alicia, Fritz, Monica, and Edward.

A second son was born to Fred and Marion Whittemore on September 22 in New York. Named in part for Marion's Dartmouth brother, Edward Brewster Whittemore will undoubtedly matriculate at Hanover in the fall of 1985 with Fred Pillsbury Carleton III, born to Fred and Molly Carleton on September 24 in Portchester. Fred, the Third, joins older sister Margaret in the Carleton household.

Jim Oberlander, who must be among the very few in the Class who can curl ten, has apparently abandoned both surfboard and 1934 woodie to woo and win Martha F. Talbot of Boston. A fall wedding is planned, with several '53s expected to help solemnize (?) the occasion. Jim will be taking the Miz O. back home to Los Angeles, where NYSE brokerage firm E. F. Hutton will reclaim some of Jim's time, if not attentions.

Allan Miller has recently joined Borden Inc. as manager of labor relations, having previously served Jones & Laughlin in Pittsburgh as labor attorney. Allan and wife Laura are living in Manhattan, which is more than just mildly happy to have a labor relations expert in its midst.

The news from Worcester, Mass., is that Pete Peterson has been appointed manager of divisional development for the Grinding Wheel Division of the Norton Company. Pete is now responsible for determining ways in which the division can increase its growth in sales and profits. After finishing up at Tuck in 1954, he joined the company and was a district product specialist, then a district sales supervisor, a corporate development analyst, and, just previously, product manager, grinding fluids.

At the Democratic national convention, the TV cameras wisely spent a good deal of their time zeroing in on Shirley McLaine. This gave alert '53s a chance to see TonyFrank, who, just as wisely, spent his time in the California delegation sitting beside her. When he wasn't otherwise occupied, Tony caucused with Bill Crotty, delegate from Florida, and Brock Brower, delegate from Life magazine.

Harvey Medlinsky, who has worked extensively with Mike Nichols, directing the "Odd Couple" production in London and several national companies of "Odd Couple" and "Barefoot in the Park," has been directing "The Crocodile and the Cockeyed Mouse," a new comedy starring Virginia Graham and Fred Clark. Harvey combined business with pleasure when he married Christina Crawford, whom he met while diverting her in the Chicago production of "Barefoot."

The Northern Trust Company of Chicago recently announced the promotion to vice president of Bob Lambert, who has been heading up the bank's personal checking division since 1966. Bob, wife, daughter and two sons live in Glen Ellyn.

Bill Johnson, heeding his own good advice so well expressed at Reunion, is running for representative to New Hampshire's General Court. Bill previously served in both the House and Senate in New Hampshire, where he was majority leader of the latter. He was also Republican state chairman and ran for the U.S. Senatorial nomination. Bill and Nancy live in Hanover; his law offices are right next door to the Nugget, which surely must be a convenience when a respite from torts and/or politics is required.

Out hustling deposits at the American Bankers Association convention in Chicago recently were Elton Clark, assistant vice president of United California Bank, and Wayne Hansen, vice president at Chase Manhattan. The yippies didn't attend this convention, they report.

Jack Newton has become treasurer of Development Corporation of America in Boston, a company engaged principally in low and middle income housing and urban renewal projects. Jack was previously with Arthur Andersen, public accountants.
