I recently had the opportunity to represent the College at the inauguration of a president of a small university here in Philadelphia. The Public Affairs Office in Hanover really does quite a job with this type of function and I was very pleased to wear the green and white hood of Dartmouth. I was probably the youngest representative there, but had quite an exciting time with all the ceremony and oratory. I hope other '63's have a similar opportunity.

Nick Carney writes that since May he has been working with Alaska's Department of Economic Development as a Development Specialist for Agriculture and Fisheries. Apparently Nick is doing quite a bit of traveling around that state but has found time to raise a sizeable family. In addition to daughter Katy (almost 4) and D. J. (almost 2), last July 5 Charles Robert joined the Carney carnival. Nick and his wife Kay send their regards to everybody. Stu Mahlinand Julie have a baby boy, born September 16, named David Barratt who weighed almost nine pounds at birth. Probably as a result of this traumatic experience Stu headed for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio, and began working there this month as a plant assistant. He writes that BrucePhillips is back from Viet Nam and the Navy and apparently is in New York working for an accounting firm and going to Columbia Business School. Carl Wright has switched insurance companies and has moved to Portland, Me. The last report was that Carl and Jane were house-hunting in that city. Finally, if Jim Friedman is within shouting distance, I wish he would let us know about the progress he is making in Ohio with his Citizens for Gilligan Organization in opposition to reelection of Senator Frank Lausche.

Just a few marriage notes: Pete Andre was wed to Linda Linnard in Montclair N. J., late in December. She has a Master's degree in teaching from Harvard and was working with the Public Libraries in New Haven. Pete has been working toward his Doctorate in mathematics at Yale while working as a research assistant there. Bruce Birch and Dianne Hill have announced their engagement. Bruce is interning in Burlington, Vt.; he graduated from the University of Vermont Medical School last year. His fiancee is a nurse with the Visiting Nurses Association of Boston. A June wedding is planned by John King and Elizabeth Sutherland of Ridgewood, N. J. John has been teaching English at Lawrenceville; she is also a nurse in Boston.

I have received word that John Rose who had been practicing law in New Haven has been appointed Assistant Chief Prosecuting Attorney of the Connecticut State Circuit Court. John graduated from Yale Law School in 1966 and apparently has moved far quickly. He will be prosecuting criminal offenders primarily in the gambling and vice areas and handling appellate work from his headquarters in New Haven. Other career news includes John Reinertsen's appointment as a Product Merchandising Assistant with Lever Brothers Household Products Division. Ted Seuss has been transferred to the Houston plant of Rohm & Haas as an assistant plant controller. Ted and Ann are living in Pasadena, Texas. Another teacher in our ranks is Brad Denny who has been appointed administrator of Union High School, District 32. He is primarily responsible for all sorts of consultation and liaison work for the schools in the Montpelier, Vt., area. Bill Marshall has been appointed to teach English in the High School in Hull, Mass. Bill recently left the Peace Corps and seems to have decided teaching is his career. Another new instructor is Rick Asher in Art History at Lake Forest College in Illinois. Rick received a Master's degree at the University of Chicago after leaving Hanover and has been traveling widely while teaching since that time.

I have exhausted my news supply for this month; please help me replenish it for our next column.
