Bob Carter's wedding to Judith Ann Bakwell in late June received excellent coverage in the Irvington, N. J., Herald. The story related that Judy was a graduate or Ohio Wesleyan and that Bob is an account executive with Aniforms, Inc., in New York. Oh yes, there was a mention that Gene Bakewell, the bride's dad, is sports editor of the Herald.
Michele Greene of Hartford, Conn., and Bryn Mawr College and Bob Hermann both received Yale Law degrees in June, and then both got married, on July 25, in Riverdale, N. Y., Temple, to each other. Grant Brown could have met Mary Thach when he was at Dartmouth and she at Wheaton, or when he was getting a Math degree at Stanford and she was working toward a master's in teaching at the same institution. They were wed in Oklahoma City on August 24 and are in Montreal where Grant is a lecturer at Loyola College.
And John Shiver, that good-natured Georgian who earned all sorts of honors while obtaining a Bachelor in Business at Georgia and who's now attending the University of Georgia School of Law, married Martha Kay Pickard, a neighbor in Americus, on August 30.
Two '66's plan late December weddings. Steve Tosi, in his final year at Cornell Med, and Teresa Dean, a nurse at New York Hospital, have set the date. And so has another professional man, Tom Lips, who is an Army 2nd Lf. following Harvard Law training. He'll marry Margah Ann Brigham, a BU alumna, now working for a Boston publisher.
Alan Leach writes to tell us that following receipt of his master's degree he was commissioned an Air Force 2nd Lt. and is now learning Aircraft Maintenance at Chanute AFB, Ill. That's a familiar pattern, grad school then service. Jim Pool will enter the Naval Judge Advocate General Corps after capping his BU Law Degree with admission to the bar.
John Hall entered the service more directly. After a year in Hanover he went to West Point and, serving with the 24th Artillery Corps in Vietnam, has recently been promoted to Captain. Lt. j.g. Halsey Bullen is making his second trip to Vietnam, serving as supply officer aboard the "USS George K. MacKenzie."
Kurt Peter Orbanowski has been elected to the honorary scientific society of Sigma Xi at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn where he is studying for a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. . . . Gary Rubloff has won a Fannie and John Hertz Foundation fellowship for graduate work in solid state physics at the University of Chicago. .. . Bill Schweizer received his Master of Science in Engineering in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences from Princeton.. . . Jeff Tew and Ham Krans graduated from Miami Law School. . . . Bob Buckley, a June BU Law grad, will practice in Claremont, N. H.
Bruce Nisula, married to the former Susan Andrews, will intern in surgery following graduation from Harvard Med School. And a classmate with an exotic graduate degree is Dean Anderson, who was awarded a bachelor of foreign trade degree by Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix.
