Pat O'Sheel is coming home! He's retiring from the Foreign Service some time this year and "expects to be casting out lines in pursuit of a new career of some sort." He is debating several aspects - writing, editing, publishing, studying, teaching, etc. Meantime, back in the States, if anyone has any suggestions Pat's listening, por the past two years he has been Counselor of the American Embassy, Pretoria, South Africa, and recently received the State Department's Meritorious Honor Award (see Wah-Hoo-Wah section).

And Don and Polly Dumont have a new home: 79 Mt. Terrace Road, West Hartford, Conn. They had been looking for three years and when they saw this gem last August they had it bought within the hour. As Don says, "you know who was most pleased - Polly!" They had a call last fall from Doris and Walt Robson, the latter's birthday, who said his son was at Cheshire Academy. The following week Ruth and DickSawyer dropped in on their way home from Cape Cod. The Dumonts see Mary andGarry Lowe from time to time with recent news that Garry has completed the necessary work and passed exams as a certified life underwriter (CLU).

So now we know Walt's still breathing, and we finally had word from Bob Crawford last year when he moved to New Jersey but whatever happened to the third roomie in that group, Ben Gutman?

Last fall during half time of the Dartmouth-Yale game we came back to the TV just in time to hear Dave Camerer's name mentioned in an interview with Charley Loftus, so we wrote Dave for clarification of what sounded like a new venture. He writes, "Thanks for your note, you did hear Loftus correctly. As of December 1 Charley is opening his own public relations store at 315 Whitney Ave., New Haven - Charles Loftus & Associates Inc. Partners include yours truly, Willard Mullin, famed sports cartoonist fos Scripps Howard, and Tim Cohane, Look Sports Editor for many years. We think we have the contacts along with the validity of experience in communica- tions to do a real job for our clients. Sports we're interested in, naturally, but we can handle most any field inclusive of counciling, original thinking, speech writing, image building, etc., if it's promotion just name it. Certainly hope any or all Dartmouth brothers who know this and who can use our services will step up. My office will be 245 West Hills Road, New Canaan, Conn. Re new products our area will be the Nutmeg State." Best of luck, Dave, and keep us posted.

And here's a personal note with a twist. Our son, Bill, joined the Navy Air Officer Candidate program reporting to Pensacola, Fla., February 4. Since he drove down in his little sports car we checked local classmates in the directory. Recalling that Helen and Sey Ochsner had attended our 25th with a clutch of beautiful daughters we blandly mentioned this before he left. Several nights later comes a call from New Orleans - our son, no less, on the horn from the Ochsner home, happily filled with hot biscuits and honey, Southern style, and thoroughly enjoying his first experience with Southern hospitality. Bill's report on the family: Radiologist Sey is assistant medical director for Ochsner Clinic besides being on the mouth. A very busy man in more organizations than can be mentioned. Lida, 18, high school senior planning as an art major at U. of Colorado. Diane, 20, junior at Memphis State. Anne, 22, married last April to Laurence Lovell and living in Baton Rouge. Coincidentally, Lawrence is heading for Pensacola in April, same program as our boy but the following class.

As you can detect, this is a real sneaky way for a secretary to gather news but it works. So, Ed Kelley in Mobile and you Cal Eldreds in Talladega - Watch Out!

We attended a local organizational meeting last week for the "Dartmouth On The Road" program (Thad Seymour and 20/25 students who explain to an audience by means of a series of skits and playlets what Dartmouth is and what it offers). This is scheduled at the Wellesley Junior High, 8-9:30 P.M., March 21, free to anyone interested. South Shore representative is JohnHandrahan. Normally reticent about news of himself but says Charley Collis' four-year-old business, Princess House Inc., the party plan selling of gifts for parties, is going great guns, HQ in Rehoboth, Mass., near Taunton. Charley and Ginnie take frequent buying trips abroad. Also that Ed Perry's hobby is monitoring police and fire short-wave broadcasts on his lavish setup at home. And a final note that Phil Conti works with that big development outfit in Miami run by the father of the Mackle girl of recent national kidnapping notoriety.

We faithfully read our local weekly "The Wellesley Townsman" and listen to this, "Mr. and Mrs. Lester Garvin of Chappaqua, N. Y., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Judith Anne, to Mr. Bartlett icks Stoodley Jr. of Wellesley." Bart Sr. '29 is brother of Harry and we were the happy purveyors of the news to Bart that this would be another joining within the Dartmouth family; he had not been informed of that.

Rachel and Fred Laughton's Christmas letter says Fred is working still as lot engineer for United Engineers and Constructors on the power plant in Jersey City, finally taking an apartment there to avoid endless commuting to Bordentown. Son, Skip, is at Camp Gordon, Georgia. Evan, 6' 4" going on 17, is overly involved in high school sports which they are trying to cool in favor of more academia. Rachel in her spare time, if any, is working with Kelly Services.

Lynn and Dana Prescott's newsletter finds Dana continuing his taxing job as project manager for Army Tactical Communications and Lynn says the highlight of his summer was winning the Fort Monmouth open tennis tournament over some hundred-odd "whippersnappers." They attended our class fall reunion last October and next day Dana took off for an extended trip to the Far East, the war zone, and finally back to Hawaii where Lynn met him to spend a week's celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. This is the Army, Mr. Jones?

Albert Christ-Janer (r), director of Pratt Institute Manhattan Center, receives congratulations at the opening of his one-man show of acrylic paintings and lithographsat the Hopkins Center from two Pratt alumni, John Scotford '38, assistant directorof Hopkins Center, and his wife Anne.
