April calls for birthday greetings to Dearing, Emerson, Fordham, Grant, Gregg, Higgins, Hoi way, Richardson, Richmond, Voorhees, and White.
Mart Remson's wonderful News Letter of February 18 giving the lengthening list of Fourteen families heading for Hanover saves the day for this column for Daniel Webster's famous case has preempted much of our space this month.
Here, however, is the voice of our poet Theophilus Thaw calling all of us to our 55th Reunion.
HOME AGAIN
Reunion — 1969
We are coming from the mountains, 'Cross the oceans and the plain; Just to stand in Webster's shadow To be Home, yes Home again.
Crowded years have passed behind us - Joyful ones - and some with pain, But no classmate need remind us That we're safely Home again.
Of the friends who are not with us, And the comrades gone bofore, Memories of our own Dartmouth Make us boys, yes boys once more.
There'll be many a heartfelt greeting And the jollity of men; We'll forget that Time is fleeting God be thanked - we're home again.
Our birthday greetings do bring returns - Enders Voorhees writes that he is enjoying his "Golden Years" — that he still has "a few business responsibilities hanging on, but they are falling away fast — my main interests are golf and fishing."
Ken Grant's letter tells of their moving back to Peabody, Mass., after three years in Derry, N. H. For both Ken and Evie 1968 was a year of considerable time spent in hospitals but hopefully a year of recovery for both of them. Ken writes of visiting JimGregg at his office on State Street in Boston. Ken who served in both world wars has a grandson with the Air Force in Viet Nam.
Wag Green checked in with Ed Elkins from Madrid, Spain. No pun intended but the distance does bear out our poets "cross the oceans."
Les Bacon writes that though three quarters of a century has taken its toll he expects that June will find both him and his better half Olie on the Hanover Inn piazza.
Late this April our treasurer starts his annual cross country drive to Grants Pass, Ore., to visit his daughter, Dorothy and her family.
