My invitation in the February issue to report the advent of great-grandchildren brought a welcome response from . Payson Tones whose name last appeared in these columns in 1950 Pay writes on stationery headed "Payson's Place" at Waquoit and says "I retired in 1964 after 20 years in the resort business on Cape Cod, have been a widower since 1963, took up cooking as a hobby and now entertain some of the 15 widows who live within a mile of me, and in the summer spend considerable time on my boat. The Cape is loaded with Dartmouth men but having spent only one semester in Hanover I never followed up my contacts but have enjoyed reading about their activities over the years. I used to see the late Norman Fay occasionally and do talk with Frank Mackedon frequently.

To the point at issue, Pay reports a son, Payson A. Jr. born Nov. 12, 1922 and wonders if perhaps he may qualify as class baby? Payson Jr.'s daughter, Jacqueline has two sons, Christopher and Mathew Colella, which for the moment at least puts the Jones family out front in the great-grandchild derby.

George Scammon, municipal court judge in Exeter, N. H., for 22 years retired from that position in January. .After graduation from Harvard Law School George practiced law for many years in Exeter, several terms as Rockingham County Solicitor (D.A. in most states) and served four years in the New Hampshire House of Representative.

Eight faithfuls attended the February dinner of the Boston Alumni Association - Chet Bixby, Jim Broe, Nat Harmon, HerbHome, Bob McMillan, Phil Segal, JerryRiley, and Pudge Neidlinger who was snared away from the class group to sit at the head table.

Nat Harmon has been teaching cost accounting at Bryant and Stratton College in Boston and reports he has recently acquired a summer home on Sebago Lake, Me. He welcomes 1923'ers if they will let him know ahead of time at his home in No. Easton, Mass.

Les Richwagen's son William acted as moderator at the February meeting of the New Hampshire Hospital Association. My Connie who attended said he did an outstanding job. William is Asst. Administrator at Mary Hitchcock. His dad at last report carries on as vice-president of the newly formed Medical Center of Vermont Hospital in Burlington.

From Paul McKown - "It's funny how before one retires he wonders what he'll do to stay busy. Now it seems the days are never long enough. My wife and I returned recently from three months in Africa. I shot enough 16 m.m. film of elephants, lions, rhinos, hippos, gnus, etc., to make a Disney documentary. Now it's taking my spare hours to put it all together. We're just getting organized for the 1969 Alumm Fund drive. Maybe that will produce some newsworthy subject matter from some of the gang."

George Plant, Charlie Rivoire, and JohnMoore recently foregathered at the N.Y. Dartmouth Club for lunch. Charlie had just returned from Florida and John was recovering from an operation. George received another couple of plaques and testimonials to add to his large collection after his retirement last year.

And from Clary Goss's fine letter: We love this rural town (Newtown) nestled into the rolling Connecticut hills. Our son Donald '53 lives in Westport, just 30 minutes away. He has twin boys and two girls and is V.P. of Roche, McCaffery and McCall, N. Y. ad firm. We have made loads of friends here. I am busy as treasurer of Rotary Club, chairman of Red Cross and publicity chairman of Newtown Scholarship Assoc. I get in two or three rounds of golf each week in season to keep in shape. We have several Dartmouth men in Rotary including Jim Osborne '47, our own Jocks son — a wonderful man like his dad. I see Jock now and then when he is here on a visit We were in Florida last year but are undecided about this winter. Priscilla likes it here with the snow, but I like it hot, and I can't play golf in the snow. We were at the Princeton, Yale, and Cornell games; saw a lot of the old gang."

Carl Gray '23 rounds a gate in winningtime in the Class IV Veterans race at theSun Valley Ski Club championships. Heattributes his victory to his lucky number68, which also is his age.
