As my tenure as secretary is drawing to a close, I find my regular news sources drying up. It seems that the class is settling into a rather non-newsworthy routine, which occurs around the time of its reunion.

There was, however, in this month's mailbag a letter from Errol Miller who is living in Pittsburgh with his wife, Enid. She is a Barnard graduate and has a master's degree in economics from Northwestern. Errol describes her as an econometrician as well as a good cook and great wife. She describes him as a rotten typist which shows that some things don't change after college. Errol's rather checkered career after graduation includes Harvard Law and a stay in Washington with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under Law until December 1968. The Committee runs various projects including a study in police-community relations. While in this job Errol worked with Berl Bernhard '51 and Louis Oberdorfer '39. Errol and his wife returned to Pittsburgh to practice law in his home town and assures us that a motive for his return was that "Pittsburgh was the only town where pro football tickets were available the day of the game."

I received an announcement from another attorney, one Brent Cromley, who announced that Brent Reed Cromley Jr. has been appointed a member of the firm of Cromley & Cromley. Young Brent was born February 14 and weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. Our congratulations to Brent and his wife in Billings, Mont.

In New York City Howie Williams has been named an assistant treasurer in the personnel relations department, training and education division, of Bankers Trust Company. He has been with Bankers Trust since 1967. After graduating from Dartmouth he earned an M.A. at Columbia in 1966. Still a part-time student, he is working toward an advanced degree in social psychology at Columbia. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Society of Training Directors.

Stewart Bither has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation for research in the psychology of marketing at Penn State. He is assistant professor of marketing at that university after receiving his doctorate from the University of Washington in Seattle. After graduation Stewart received his M.B.A. from Tuck in 1965. He is married to the former Nancy Ellis of Nova Scotia, Canada; they are living in State College, Pa.

Finally, this month I received an interesting announcement from the Dartmouth Club of Southern California which has initiated a rather interesting group called "The Friend Indeed Committee" in the Los Angeles area. Their group is available to any alumnus in Southern California who, as the name implies, needs a friend or some advice, job help or other aid. It looks like quite an interesting project and one which other clubs might explore. I have more information on the group so if any of you would like to learn more about it, let me know.
